Hello,

I have a Supermicro 846 chassis which has a PWS-920P-SQ 920W silent power supply and running an X10DRI-T motherboard. I would like to add a GPU to box which has a two 6+2 ports. I have this cable thus i need only a single 6+2 pin cable. Which PSU/PDB do i need?

Thanks

I don't own one but AFAIK, the standard 846 PDBs don't have GPU / PCIe 8 pin (6+2) connectors. For sure the 826, 216, 836 PDBs don't have it.
You may have to use 2x SATA > PCIe or 2x Molex > PCIe
Use good quality ones to avoid fire hazards. Depending on # drives you already have, make sure you are distributing the power draw across the outputs.

Did you check the SM Power Supply Matrix?

Thanks for the SM Power supply document. Is DB-PT842-8824 compatible (it has PCIe connectors) with SC846 chassis and PWS-920P-SQ?

I have a nVidia Grid card in my 846 case with a SQ PS. I made an extra connectors by tapping (solder) into the existing molex wires.

Is has been running strong for a year+.

The PDU from the 747 series (PDB-PT747-4648) might fit due to the PSU layout, but I've not personally confirmed. The one from the 842 chassis (PDB-PT842-8824) won't fit since it uses PSUs that are a different size.
