Well, my auction promises delivery around Nov 20th, so the seller still have some time to close that gap...

I'd imagine its just logistics issues. These all sold out in what, 4 days? They aren't exactly things you can just drop in the mail either, an trying to transport the switch plus packing materials, times about 14 (i think), would require a lot of space. I ordered a Mellanox IS5030 once (1RU, short depth infiniband switch) an the box it came in was bigger in every dimension then a 4U server. An even if there having the shipping service package them, id think they'd come pick them all up at once, so it may just be a matter of when the shipping company can find time and truck space to transport 14 switches.

I was able to fit 16x 1U chassis' (which are larger than switches) WITH their boxes....in a minivan. :p:p:p

False alarm I guess, UPS just dropped off a brand new looking arista - that might be the fastest UPS ground package I've ever gotten. Still shows as unshipped on ebay. I'm pretty sure I ordered mine well after you guys did, so i wouldn't be surprised if you guys get yours today or tomorrow.

My USB DOM hasn't gotten here yet, so I tried to boot it off external USB using "boot usb1:EOS-4.21.0F.swi", but that just makes it try to copy the firmware from the external USB to the internal DOM, so it still errors out.

Since even their bootloader is just linux though, was able to trick it into mounting the external USB as the /mnt/flash mount it wants to use for boot files:

Code:
umount /mnt/flash
mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/flash
boot flash:EOS-4.21.0F.swi
booted right into EOS, it needed to reboot a couple times after upgrading the FPGA firmware and disabling ZTP, but it eventually booted fully and works perfectly:

Code:
localhost#sh version
Arista DCS-7050QX-32S-F
Hardware version: 11.32
Serial number: SSJ17235200
System MAC address: 2899.3ab7.1fa3

Software image version: 4.21.0F
Architecture: i386
Internal build version: 4.21.0F-9441269.4210F
Internal build ID: ede5dbcb-a279-47f2-b632-77dc5750bae3

Uptime: 0 weeks, 0 days, 0 hours and 3 minutes
Total memory: 3817916 kB
Free memory: 2951388 kB
you'll need to run the above umount/mount commands every time it reboots as aboot defaults to mounting the internal DOM as /mnt/flash - but this is just temporary so I could check that the switch works properly.

Mine did have an M2 slot, however the regular sata port was totally unpopulated, posted a pic in https://forums.servethehome.com/ind...ding-arista-switches.19885/page-3#post-210135

Ok so literally everything i theorized was incorrect lol, they apparently shipped it out the same day i payed, and its set to arrive tomorrow! Pays to actually login to your UPS account so you can see shipments that are on the way. I guess they just never entered the shipping into into eBay.

Well, mine came into the office on Friday morning while I was out, so here's a photo of the package contents as it was unboxed:

Very well packaged, the PSUs and the fans are separately placed. No USB DOM (the shipment will not arrive until the Chinese slow-boat canoes pedal up New York Bay)

How loud are these? I found the one I want but concerned about noise as it would sit right next to me desk in my mini rack for my lab. I want to get one because Arista now supports Tracer for Nutanix AHV and would love to have this configured for my lab.

With the standard fan settings (~50%) it's pretty loud. With 30% fan speed it's a lot quieter but still audible.

A supermicro 836b with stock fans + active heat sink @ optimal fan setting is louder.

Yeah, they are loud on startup, even louder on load, and you'll definitely need to throttle it down to 30% (lowest possible) if you were hoping for it to be remotely considered to be "slightly annoying" by the missus.

If the 7050qx-32s is anything like the 7050qx-32, much of the remaining noise after setting the fans to 30% comes from the power supplies. I modified my power supplies with 40x20mm noctua fans. The power supplies are quite overkilled and are not running hot at all. I also changed the airflow direction in them so the weaker fans are not just working against the positive pressure in the chassis from the much more beefy other fans.

Optics temperatures might suffer a tad though.

Very interesting offer this was...I’d use this to try SONiC and Cumulus - this is Trident-2 based and supported HW.
