You have to love compact solutions. Here's one from Supermicro:

Supermicro | Products | SuperServers | 1U | 6017R-73THDP+

It's a 1U server that holds 12 3.5" drives plus two 2.5" SSD drives and a SATADOM, has a built-in 8-port LSI 2308 SAS controller plus six more SATA ports, and dual 10GbE ports. It's everything that I'd want in a small NAS - 48TB plus cache in 1U at 2GB/s transfer speed!

Holy! That is some awesome kit there. It's also dual LGA2011 which means there is a ton of CPU options for that thing.

That is pretty dense, doesn't seem like they left a cubic inch unused.

Has got to sound like a 747 to keep it all cool with those tiny fans though :)

80 plus platinum on a 1U 650W AC/DC psu is really impressive too.

Maybe Netflix/Amazon instant video box. Just thought of that as I was watching a movie on Amazon.

What section of Supermicro's Site are these nodes hidden on? I can't seem to find them in the normal 1u section or the storage specific section and am just curious.

Ha. Thanks tjk, figures it is hiding in the one spot I didn't look in.

Wanna run those past our hardware guys at the office, a few of our big Hadoop using customers would probably really like these.
