Have 4 of these, tested working in my Brocade ICX6610. Selling because my SX6018 does not accept high power modules.

$75 each or best offer.

I wonder if they work in a Mellanox* SX6012? Im interested as it's save me running MPO through the house. I'll do some researching get back. I've got on spare 40Gbe free on my 6610 but would like to keep that free for stacking.

You should be able to run 2 in the SX6012, there's a firmware that enables high power modules on ports 1 and 2.

MT_1270111029 PNMSX6012F_WT_AxDESCRIPTIONSwitchX-2 based FDR IB; 12 QSFP ports; Managed ; Subnet Manager for 648 nodes; P1-2 LR4 enabled

Unfortunately no firmware available for the '18. I found a Mellanox support page that says it's an ini mod, but of course the only firmware we have available is the one extracted from the MLNX-OS images.

Yes I have that one extracted as well. Could you give any indication on cost os shipping to Australia, post code (zip) 6330, or will you only ship to USA?

Check out

https://community.mellanox.com/s/article/lr4-support-on-mellanox-switches

It says...

  • SX6012 - all Ethernet ports; for InfiniBand ports, it is required to enable high-power flow in the .INI firmware configuration file
  • Only "Mellanox" LR4 modules are supported on these switches.
So, it seems the INI hack is only needed for infiniband ports. The likely blocker seems to be a vendor lock for high power transceivers. If the SX6012 supports these on all ports I'd be surprised if the SX6108 didn't. I don't suppose you have a QSFP reprogrammer...

I made and installed new firmware for my SX6012 so now it is MT_1270111029. LR4 is only enabled on P1 and P2. Suites me fine with the CISCO modules I bought from mb300sd. Give me a week to setup the test environment I had for this if you would like any further information as moved everything to make room for my current obsession (4 node docker swarm and home automation).

The following firmwares are included in v3.6.8010, which is the latest I could find.

Code:
MSX6012F_Ax MT_1270110020 SwitchX-2 based FDR InfiniBand Switch; 12 QSFP ports; Managed ; Subnet Manager for 648 nodes
MSX6012F_WT_Ax MT_1270111029 SwitchX-2 based FDR IB; 12 QSFP ports; Managed ; Subnet Manager for 648 nodes; P1-2 LR4 enabled
MSX6012T_Ax MT_1270110029 SwitchX-2 based FDR10 InfiniBand Switch; 12 QSFP ports; Managed ; Subnet Manager for 648 nodes
MSX6018F-xxxS_Ax MT_1240212020 SwitchX-2 based FDR InfiniBand Switch; 18 QSFP; Managed
MSX6018F-xxxS_WT_Ax MT_1240213020 SwitchX-2 based InfiniBand to Ethernet 1U gateway; 18 QSFP+ ports; PPC460; RoHS6
MSX6018T-xxxS_Ax MT_1240112029 SwitchX-2 based FDR-10 InfiniBand Switch; 18 QSFP; Managed
Note that the _WT_Ax firmware for the SX6012 is the one with LR4 support. Note that the SX6018 has a _WT_Ax firmware too, but the description doesn't mention LR4 (but does mention RoHS6).

@mb300sd Would you be willing to try MT_1240213020 (MSX6018F-xxxS_WT_Ax)?

@MikeWebb Did you confirm that your BiDi transceivers work in both P1 and P2?
