Why are AMD RX 580 and RX 590 everywhere now online?

I mean, all of the sites are gushing over them. They look like a competitor to the mid to lower end of Pascal and we're now on 2070's with AMD.

Why are all the big tech sites pushing what's an old technology?

Not sure everyone's "gushing" about them or pushing them, but they're solid enough mid-range cards and finally now that the crypto bubble is shrinking they're available at non-inflated prices so people can actually buy them.

Imagine it's the same in the US as well but there's been quite a few good deals on the AMD kit in the last few months; I bought myself a Vega that had nearly halved in price from what it was six months ago. Suspect a lot of sites would recommend things like that as a good deal for people like me who aren't looking for top-end performance.

The Polaris based RXs are decent value for casual gaming as long as you don't mind higher CPU utilization. When you consider that the most popular GPU for gaming on Steam is a GTX1050Ti (4%), suddenly getting a card that performs better than the 1050 at half the price suddenly looks like a pretty good deal.

Did you mean the GTX1060 at 14%?

Yeah, that. But the point still stands - most gamers are not on the 1080s/RTXs, and casual gamers looking for a deal didn't find much from nVidia. RX580 were $200 during black Friday, and there was a decided lack of 1070s/1080s at that price point. Of course, AMD is supposed to have a new GPU architecture in 2019, so this could well be a classic case of dumping inventory.

Well the RX 590 only just came out in the past couple of weeks and is supposed to be a price-performer against the GTX1060. I assume the marketing push is because it's a brand new product.

That said, it's just a recycled/upclocked RX 580 / RX 480 so it's quite old technology just marketed as new.
