I have not received any response from my PMs either. Will wait 2 more days before initiating paypal refund.

Really weird that he's gone unresponsive. This has none of the markings of a scam thread (Specific qty of oddball items, noting sold items no longer available), though the guy is brand new...

He has not responded to me at all...paying with a credit card through paypal is nearly 100% protection as even if pp doesn't help you can chargeback...what really really sucks is i needed the memory.

couple of folks on reddit PMed me that they were his victims too. Don't know how his account has not been banned. He has been there for nearly 5 years.

one thing that made this seem really sketchy was if you look at his reddit profile, he's very active in the r/borrow subreddit. I also looked up the Service tag and it shows the chassis is still under warranty, however when I asked him about potential transfer of it he didn't respond. (He responded to my other questions however)

Yup I received an email last week that refund was initiated by him, but this morning another email saying that eCheck payment from his bank was declined, and would try again.
Do I need to file a dispute claim or is this all automatic?

Yup. He "offered" a refund but never followed up..i am assuming he was delaying so he could pull the money out. No matter, credit card took care of it. The scam probally works like this - take payment, delay untill the money is in the account - near instant for bank or balance transfers - 3-7 days for credit card. Initiate money pull - generally he will will be able to get cash in hand before actions against him...his accounts will be empty so no clawing it back. He is either a foreigner or a desperate American as if this is what is happening it would be considered a felony is most states i think (just my opinion).

Agree with wildpig. Don't take emails as proof since whenever you pay with PayPal the other party to the transaction has your email address. The scammer could be spoofing the refund/eCheck emails.

The memory I ordered just showed up. No communication nothing. Calling the CC to cancel the chargeback …. strange as hell.
