Install the actual Graphics driver for your GPU (even if onboard) instead of the Microsoft "Basic Display Driver"

i did ... still no sleep show up in the start menu along with shutdown and restart.

i can enable the sleep under power option in control panel and specify time to go to sleep, but there is no sleep selection to go along with restart and shutdown under start menu....

Ah...sorry, didn't realize that. Have you tried the local policy settings ?

Windows server 2019 is a bit strange, I don't see the sleep in start menu either. I also don't see the Startup tab in the Task Manager.

Go to cmd run as admin.... powercfg hibernate on.... then set sleep time in control panel power option

Still no idea how to get that sleep button...

Would be nice to be able to since there are people that use quad cpu WS.. and you have to use windows server when it morm than two sockets

Could well be motherboard specific ?

I tried to get sleep enabled with Server 2016 on Supermicro X9DRi-F and X10DRi motherboards and was unsuccessful. I contacted SM tech support and their response was ..
The bottom line is our server boards including X10DRi and X9DRi-F do not support Sleep S mode. It only support on Workstation boards
I then asked about which Workstation boards and the response was ..
X10DAX, X10DAi, X10DAC, and X10DRG-Q are considered as Workstation boards
Not sure if that helps at all

It's motherboard-specific. Sleep requires S3/S2R support from the motherboard itself, without that Windows won't enable the sleep routines.

Under windows you can check what your board supports with powercfg /a; from my windows workstation:
Code:
C:\Windows\system32>powercfg /a
The following sleep states are available on this system: Standby ( S3 )
The following sleep states are not available on this system:
Standby (S1)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.
Standby (S2)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.
Hibernate
        Hibernation has not been enabled.
Hybrid Sleep

still can't find a way to enable the sleep choice in windows server 2019 power menu. they say supposedly this was disabled at the dll level. i am wondering if i can replace that dll with the one from regular windows 10 but i have no idea which dll for now...

to manually enter into the sleep mode you could do from the command line and make a desktop shortcut : rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState 0,1,0

How to sleep Windows 10 from the command line

can also set the power button to trigger sleep if pressed.

well, let us know on here if anyone can somehow enable the sleep button in server 2019 power menu.
