Hi,

I am looking to upgrade as I am running out of ports.

I have an 1810-24G and would be happy just going to the 48G but are there any other good deals out there for around US$400 that may be worth considering with 48 ports (GbE) ?.

Thanks
RB

Do be careful when shopping the Dell 6248 on ebay. There are a lot of low-ball "buy it now" listings, but they are for non-working switches. From a quick scan the lowest price currently listed for a working Dell 6248 is $499.

Still a good switch at that price - just make sure you don't buy a failed one. Ebay sellers are not obligated to refund if you buy something that was clearly listed as 'for parts, not working'.

The 1810 and sgX00 line are hard to beat (power)efficiency wise for simple l2 connectivity.

Agree. Still outside the $400 budget, but not by much. Available used on ebay for ~$450, just slightly below the "working" Dell 6248s.

What sort of features are you looking for? I've been very happy with the Force10 SA-01-GE-48T

They are EOL but I've yet to see one fail. These models are from before Dell bought Force10.

Force10 Networks SA 01 GE 48T 48 Ports External Switch Managed Stackable | eBay

Some come with a L3 Routing license, it doesn't support IPv6 L3 Routing, but will work fine as IPv6 switch. The Force10's are incredibly low latency switches, I use them for my iSCSI traffic and Core Router. I'm running few of them with zero problems.

I have 2 switches in the for-sale section that meet your criteria...how about a 48-Port HP 1810-48G for $300 plus shipping?

RimBlock, apparently I made the same mistake twice... I was thinking of the Cisco WS-C3560G-48PS-S, however the used prices on these are still extraordinarily high and eliminates it from being relevant to this thread.

Np and thanks for taking the time to have a look and offer a suggestion.
