I've ordered one with 16GB RAM :) Just out of curiosity :D I use currently Intel S1400FP4 with E5 2418L V2 and 96GB of Ram and Motherboard itself was more expensive that this whole server :|

Depends a lot on your hardware configuration.

With the right controllers and drives it should run fairly quiet.

With a drive that doesn't show the smart data it wants, anything but quiet.

Any idea what the noise level is like on these things?

Am guessing they come with no caddies
I've got mine currently.
Without any cards its noticable but not that loud. WIth LSI 9211 it works like a vacuum cleaner. I have to test it with LSI 9260 and Mellanox 10Gb cards aswell...
I probably could purchase HP P420 but i think that SATA works in 3gb mode..
Currently i make it work with 2 back LFF caddies.

FYI after some modifications with FANs my DL380e is dead silent :)
I've faked that fans are running by compining pin 4-5-6 in the connector and i've added 2 silent 60mm fans instead of orignal ones.
Now it doesn't matter if there is a non-HP card or not.

Watch out for the P420 temps, it runs hot and I have a few dead because of improper cooling

Well I've got that card yesterday and.. You were right . With current cooling card goes to 103 degrees C and server shutdown. So either i will stick with 9260 or add some original fans to cool that card...
Even replacing or the thermal paste didn't helped. The heatsink is just too small to transfer heat.. In lsi it's much bigger and card doesn't go as hot as sun
