Hi All.

Got my hands on the 9285-8e. The problem is that it does not show a bios on boot (my 9260-8i does) and in windows it is not detected properly (PCI Device and driver doesnt work).

Tried flashing to latest firmware but the util doesnt see the card. Only thing that does is MegaRec. So tried flashing with that and it say Unable to open *****.rom

Any ideas?

Hi,
I found your thread while searching for help on 9285-8e.
My card will show up on post back to back with the 9260-8i on my computer. It has succesfully passed into win server 2012 and passthrough into hyper-v vms.
However, I have switched to ESXi 6.5, and it is not recognized as a raid controller.

Hi Jack,

I don't know what it is about the 9285-8e but it caused me all types of issues.

I ended up getting a 9280-8e and its working flawlessly.

I just bought a dirt cheap 9285CV-8e of Ebay and working great
Wonder if there has been bad flashing of Firmware going going on in their previous lifes ?
Mine came with an ancient FW so chances are not played with

Alrighty, found DOS stick.
Uploaded the files here:
LSI SAS controller Firmware
'SAS2208' has a heap of FW for SAS2208 Controllers
I'm running 233421ib.rom, which is the lastest FW I know of and its from IBM but works fine on the 9285
Other versions there too, IN=Intel, IB=IBM, SM=Supermicro, LS=LSI
9285_sbr.bin and 9285_spd.bin included
All the Utilities under the sun in LSI_DOS or LSI_WIN folders

That page is a work in progress, I'll update as I get time
Let me know how you get on
