Is this just as simple as choose where to snap and have at it? Thinking right at stubby end just past PCI-e connector? No issue right before I go HULK-style? :-D

I expect so - I have seen metal brackets in SM chassis of various lengths that would have standoffs to mate with the longer sections, never looked close to see if the original riser was easy to snap into smaller sections however.

Yes... that simple. Once a card is in it and the card secured to case slot opening, you're golden.
