Amazon is selling a Mellanox Connectx-4 Mcx4111a-acat 25gigabit Ethernet Card - Pci Express 3.0 X8 - 1 Port(s) - Optical Fiber for $102.31 which is a very good price for this card. They indicate they have four in stock.

The cable for direct connect is MCP2M00-A00A for a Passive Copper cable, SFP28 0.5 meter. I believe it is $56.00 on Amazon.

I bought one and the price immediately increased to $281.80, more expensive than the $260 it is at the Mellanox store.

FYI - MCX4111A-ACAT is SFP28, as zkrr01 stated, not *Q*SFP28 (which is used for 50/100 G). The picture does show QSFP28 but I presume that's just an error.

I don't know what's going on, but Amazon is again selling the Mellanox Connectx-4 Mcx4111a-acat 25gigabit Ethernet Card - Pci Express 3.0 X8 - 1 Port(s) - Optical Fiber for $114.52 which is a very good price for this card. They indicate they have three in stock with more on the way.

I could be confused but I thought 25GB used SFP<mumble> and QSFP<mumble> was 100G. I also thought that SFP<mumble> DAC could be used at 10G or 1G if they were cheaper. Am I confused or did I get it right?

I hope the same vendor that is selling these 25GbE NICS on Amazon will start selling the 100GbE NICS at similar discounts.
The Mellanox MCX515A-CCAT ConnectX-5 EN Network Interface Card 100GbE Single-Port QSFP28 PCIe3.0 x16 Tall Bracket ROHS R6 is now available, but really expensive.

I bought the single unit sold for $102. The vendor was Amazon.com itself. See the pricing history here which shows their dynamic pricing in action where it probes the market by decreasing the price until one sells then raising it back up again. It got as low as $63!

I bought an expensive Supermicro chassis last year which was nearly half normal price after I watched the price steadily decrease for months until I thought it was bottoming out. It's almost as fun as Ebay auctions 15 years ago!

Amazon.com is also selling the MCX515A-CCAT but they haven't moved the price yet - here. You can set up price tracking on camelcamelcamel for any Amazon product.

You can get a refurbished MCX515A-CCAT from Mellanox directly for $558, cheaper than the $837 for a new one on Amazon. Or, a single port 50 GbE refurbished MCX515A-GCAT for $330.

I'll look at 50/100 GbE cards when I can consistently saturate my 25 GbE network...

Mine took a long time to arrive. But the pair arrived one was still in a FedEx box from Synnex. New SFP28 cards. Wish I had purchased a bunch more.
