I commented about this in another thread, but since Asus never bothered to really work on the support ticket I filed maybe two years ago, I will ask here for any suggestions as to what might be the culprit.

I have one Asus iKVM ASMB6 mounted on a Z9PE-D8 WS motherboard. When it is power cycled through the KVM, all access is lost to the BMC.

If power is cycled or cut off, the BMC won't get any standby power (with the PSU enabled though, AC live). I heard this is common for Asus ASMB6's, and it is ridiculous. The PSU is a Corsair HX750 on that system and I had it happening with other PSUs too.

Is this caused perhaps by the lack of a PSU SMBus power connector? Or something else? I suppose if all server MBs needed the SMBus power connector (there is one slot on the MB) for their IPMI capabilities, nobody would be using consumer PSUs successfully with them.
