Omgggg, i still don´t have M2 slots ! (no reason to upgrade from my 4790k).

Hopefully intel (or AMD) will launch something worth upgrading for.

In for 2.

This forum is bad for my wallet. I keep on buying things that I don't need and don't see a need for them 6 months down the road.

@hitmanbabyvn I usually go with SM953's for lower capacity drives if possible. They are both a bit older. Based on the specs there, maybe that is a case for PM.

Mine just arrived today. Surprisingly clean drives free from dust and well packaged. Has anyone checked how much data has been written to these?

I also received mine today and it's almost new. Here's the smartctl -x output:

Mine arrived today and looked like they were new, about 35GB data written and a single power on hour. It almost looks like they were tested then re-sealed. Ordered a couple more.

Just a heads up for those looking to use these in a hyper-converged scenario. They do not have full enterprise PLP support, in other words they will not work well when using storage spaces direct. I don't know how they work with vmware vsan so research first!

Also, I will be selling the two that I purchased so PM if interested, I'll sell them at a loss. They both only have a handful of GB written and are essentially new (1 power on hour on each until I started testing :) ).

What's the difference between "full enterprise PLP support" and standard PLP?

We probably need to look at the confidential SM953 datasheet to resolve the PLP ambiguity. The SM963 datasheet details the power loss function of that model, for example.

I can't find the SM953 datasheet at all, but this Samsung whitepaper has this to say:
For the SM953, the SFF-8639 form factor SSD supports the hot plug function; multiple tantalum capacitors ensure stable data integrity even when the system is in sudden power off recovery (SPOR) state. Currently, however, the M.2 form factor SSD does not support this function.
@Jeff Robertson, how did you find out about the absent PLP on these?
