i find it odd how they didn't double the TBW for their 1TB for the 2TB model.
it felt like a no-brainer to double it at least.

8TB of cache? how much data change do you have?
One Word:
M.A.M.E

And I only use 3/4 of the SSD's, and this will be a RAID-1 of cache disks because I'm paranoid about my docker images and data so i'll be down to 3.84TB of space give or take.

Linux ISOs are another huge data repository. :)

I wish I had more 2.5" slots I would've put in more disks in my array.

I got 3 of these running in my UnRAID server and they run FLAWLESSLY. Having an error with TRIM support but I'm not too fantastically concerned about that. These are solid and fast work horses. I highly recommend getting them if you need some good cache disks.

I'd buy more but my wallet can't take the hit again.

What is PLP?

It looks like the deal is back online. There is also similar ebay one but slightly more expensive. Pack of 2 - Micron 1100 2TB SSD SATA 6Gb/s 2.5" Solid State Drive MTFDDAK2T0TBN 658201293396 | eBay

The price drop on SSDs are pretty amazing. I expect them to become cheaper than harddrives. Economies of scale is tipping on the flash drives and i think they are actually simpler to manufacture. With power and space being the biggest concern on the data center in these days, we can see harddrives getting completely eliminated from most workloads other than heavy writes.

PowerLoss Protection, it's usually a capacitor/battery that provides power so that the ram & controller caches of a ssd can be flushed to the nand.
