Dang that's cheap. Listing says new, too.

On the slower side but seemingly good endurance. Tempted to scoop them up, but don't need them, so will leave for others.

Secrets for getting these to work in a NAS? Do I need to reformat? Windows loves them, freenas does not. Connected to a h310 w/ IT v20 firmware

If windows is good then must be 512b blocks so no issues there.
You can try cleaning the disk in windows or boot up a Linux live ISO and use gpparted or something similar to remove all the partitions and check if it gtp or mbr, I guess your NAS is expecting one or the other ?

Error message? Behavior? Problem description?;)

"Freenas does not love them" is not really telling us much :p

weird. Have you tried a linux live cd?
But that sounds more like a controler issue - that one is detected properly?

They are connected to a H310 flashed to v20 IT firmware. Passing the controller through but works fine in 2012 R2, allows me to format, view, write to disks, etc...

gparted has no issues with them, but omnios and FreeNAS throw up the same errors when i connect the controller.

may end up going hardware raid with them if I can't figure this out.

so linux sees them fine on that controller but solaris and freebsd not?
both have the issue that they can't power them up?
