I was wondering if anyone had any information on these CPUs. Of particular interest to me is supported memory and speeds. I assume ddr4, but want to make sure it is not limited to 1866. Also am curious if anyone knows the turbo speeds. I am considering replacing my i7 5280 with one, but wanted to try to get some more information about the chip first.

right, i already reviewed the site before posting. however it doesn't give the memory speeds i asked about, and it states "Turbo frequency is not confirmed".

Why not goto the Intel site it has the information you are looking for, very clearly labelled.

Single core I think it can go up to 3.3 GHz. I am not sure if the all core hack work with this or not. Not 100% on RAM.

I found the List of Intel Xeon microprocessors on Wikipedia very accurate so far.
I lists DDR4-2133, so you should be good to go. But I wonder what might be the difference to the E5-2680 v3. TDP is the same, maybe another thermal profile?
yeah, i was hoping for a little bit more positive confirmation then the wikipedia article, but at this point it will have to do. i will try to remember to post a follow up here for others once the chip arrives.

I have one of these boards which is quite unusual - it supports specifically the E5-2678v3 and only DDR3 (yes, DDR3) memory. It has a 2011-3 keyed socket but the pins of the 2011 socket, i.e., only pins for DDR3, not DDR4. There is some information out there that a select set of Haswell v3 processors included both DDR3 and DDR4 memory controllers and Intel offered these to a few large customers; I think the E5-2678v3 is one of those. The board is from Facebook and my theory is that they wanted a Haswell + DDR3 board because there wasn't sufficient DDR4 available at that time.

I'm interested in buying some E5-2678v3 so would appreciate any info you have.

Got the chip today, swapped out my i7 5280 i had in there. its running it in an asrock x99 extreme4/3.1. My ddr4 memory was able to run at 2133, but there was no option for the higher speeds like the i7 had. I have 8 x 8gb sticks of ram, and it sees it all. max turbo does appear to be 3300mhz, as per the wikipedia, testing it out i was able to get all cores to 2900 mhz. I have not tried to do the xeon all core max turbo trick on the chip.

What is the xeon all core max turbo trick? Is it only a haswell thing? I have 2 x e5-2690 v1's.

That information would have been useful here.

My understanding is it is haswell (E5 V3) only. I have not done it my self, but from what i had read apparently there was a bug in the CPU. if you boot using a BIOS that does not have the CPU microcode you can set all the cores to the max turbo speed, after which you can allow the CPU microcode to be applied and the speed will stick. that is about the limit of my familiarity with it.

@tbg

Google "all core turbo" , there is a long running thread , only applies to E5 v3 CPU

I love the cheap E5 v3 CPU, and use it for crypto mining.

Example , E5-2673 v3 12 cores at 3099 MHz

Model name: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2673 v3 @ 2.40GHz
Stepping: 2
CPU MHz: 3099.937
CPU max MHz: 3100.0000
CPU min MHz: 1200.0000

Model name: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2650L v3 @ 1.80GHz
Stepping: 2
CPU MHz: 2499.960
CPU max MHz: 2500.0000
CPU min MHz: 1200.0000
