I think that depends on how you look at it. If you have a TB attached to a node, then is it caching if you are using that TB to cache some of several exabytes of data locally?

These are much larger than the first gen 32GB drives

Well according to Anandtech these drives were 375gb ones which would be good enough size for me to consider using

I was a bit surprised. I did not see the AT folks there. More than 2 packages so they are going to be bigger.

#1 reason Optane is so hard to get is the hyper-scale guys.
