@big dog

Take a look at this #22☆Intel Xeon E5-4610 v3 QS QH9G 1.7GHz 10C LGA2011-3 Similar to E5-2628L v3 | eBay
$139 Intel Xeon E5-4610 v3 QS QH9G 1.7GHz 10C LGA2011-3 Similar to E5-2628L v3
It is a true QS or C1 step CPU compare to the early version of ES CPU QEYX CPU.
Pro: since it a QS / C1 step CPU compatible is very good across all systemboard.
10 cores vs 8 cores

I paid $80 each for a pair of QEYX last year, it is just OK , not good.

For $189 #20☆Intel Xeon E5-4620 v3 QS QH99 2GHz 10C Similar to Xeon E5-2630 v4 | eBay
Intel Xeon E5-4620 v3 QS QH99 2GHz 10C Similar to Xeon E5-2630 v4

For $269
#31☆Intel Xeon E5-4627 v3 QS QH9E 2.6GHz 10C Same as Xeon E5-2660 v3 | eBay
Intel Xeon E5-4627 v3 QS QH9E 2.6GHz 10C Same as Xeon E5-2660 v3

Right now , there is not a lot of good and cheap choices with V3 CPU.

Thanks a lot Marsh. especially the feedback on the QEYX performance. I think I will go with Ebay now. I went ahead and cancelled my Aliexpress order. (Now in state "Awaiting Cancellation", presumably because everyone is at Spring Festival and there's no one in the office updating orders.) I am truly undecided about how to proceed with the CPUs for these three Z10PC-D8 boards. Ideally, I would get whatever CPUs I ordered within the MB return period, but most of these V3s/V4s are also coming from China. Also I would prefer that the seller have multiple Xeons in stock, so I could have all six be the same. And then there is the matter of price/performance. My cold storage pool application is not really performance sensitive, but there is still that siren call of "just spend a little more"...

Most ebay sellers has more stocks or future stock than their listing. Won't hurt and ask if they have more CPU.

The low end CPU is just OK, but there is no future value or usage for higher workload like virtualization .

BTW, I ordered a ASUS board to try out.

Be aware that 27 has no HT.

Pretty much anyone getting into the game now is screwed. (Like me). I dont mine, just solve scientific problems....

Looking hard at the next gen of Ryzen 8 cores 16 threads 4 ghz, 300$...just dont know how it will perform on my apps.

I received my three MBs yesterday.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_3e6.jpg

The images of this board on newegg, have the ASUS IMPI board installed, and is included in the board name, good chance it will have it..?
UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_3e7.jpg

Yes, the IKVM board was installed.

That is pretty cool with the 10GbE built-in.
UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_3e8.jpg

Yes, very cool!! I think any new motherboard I buy from now on must have onboard 10Gbe ports, ha ha.

Anyway I have three new Asus LGA 2011-3 boards and no Xeons, and no prospects for getting any soon. Someone else will have to be the first to say how well these work. For now they are just sitting out with my other recently purchased, and yet unused hardware.

Man, I so wanted to get in on this deal. But given that my last foray into ASUS's server/rack mount workstation gear ended with the magic smoke escaping I just couldn't bring myself to spend another dollar on one of their products.

Hope it works out for y'all and that I'm just cursed when it comes to ASUS branded gear.

Picture of $0.69 magic smoke generator destroying (theoretical - bought it via Great Deal post... from Newegg) $2,000 rack mount workstation.

The CPU shown on AliExpress appears to be ES models. Will they work probably with any board? I like those CPUs and seem well price. I want to upgrade some of my Lenovo servers.

I am running stress test ( AKA Aeon mining ) with a pair of E5-4655 v3 CPU in the past 24hours.

Ubuntu 16.0.4 detected all the network ports out of the box, don't have time to test further.

The main attraction for me , this ASUS board fits in a normal ATX case.
I may turn it into my workstation someday.
