Anybody opened 7050QX-32 chassis before. I am considering upgrading the flash storage.

In Aboot mode, lspci -v show me the existing flash storage is a STEC USB device. So curious anybody have a picture of what's inside in the switch? Is that flash storage upgradable? In addition, according to spec, 100GB SSD is optional. Can buy a SSD from market and plug into the switch?

Its a tiny board attached to a standard usb2.0 header. You do have some other options.

It's a pin header, you would need an adapter to use any USB sticks.
I google the similar USB DOM and found there are two types. Do you know which type Arista uses?

Standard, 9pin, 2.54mm
26.6x36.9x9.6mm (Pin Pitch2.54)

Low profile, 9pin, 2.00mm
26.6x36.9x6.6mm (Pin Pitch2.00)

I do not know. These pictures were taken a few months ago. The switch is currently in operation and fairly buried under other gear. Sorry.

No worry. I just opened the chassis and found it's standard instead of low profile.

I can confirm that EOS-4.18.5M works fine on these switches, took a bit of a risk and installed it. No problems at all :)

Now all i need is a copy of cloudvision if anyone's got it handy!

If you do swap it out (and or manage to install the SSD) do post back, i'm very interested in that!
Sure! I just placed an order for a 4GB USB DOM. I will use it to replace the original flash storage. In addition, I have a 256GB SATA DOM. I will also give it try and see if it could fit in.

Picked up a whole bunch of these the other day. I got 4.20.2F operational and in testing right now:

localhost#show ver
Arista DCS-7050QX-32-R
Hardware version: 02.11
Serial number: XXXXX
System MAC address: XXXXX
Software image version: 4.20.2F
Architecture: i386
Internal build version: 4.20.2F-7151045.4202F
Internal build ID: 774e0298-8f44-4c84-b62e-b7c5bce6e524
Uptime: 1 week, 1 day, 9 hours and 44 minutes
Total memory: 3956536 kB
Free memory: 2662344 kB

BTW, nice switches. Planning to use these in an S2D build with some dual port Connectx-4's. Anyone tried these in that type of config yet?

I have a working setup with S2D. Are you looking for something in particular?

more validation than anything else. Between Mellanox KB's and Microsoft Technet, there appears to be some solid config guidance for Arista EOS. I'm awaiting the server hardware but in my reading so far, i should be doing something along these lines for the interfaces:

interface Ethernet1/1
dcbx mode ieee
flowcontrol send off
flowcontrol receive off
speed forced 40gfull
qos trust cos
priority-flow-control mode on
priority-flow-control priority 3 no-drop

I'll be putting the config through its paces before throwing any work onto the environment. It's all QA/Dev, so not mission critical. The 7050x's look like a good fit in this case :)

So someone mentioned earlier that they had used a Mellanox DAC with this switch and it was working. Do Mellanox direct attached copper and the direct attached optical fiber transceivers work fine? Or do they give unsupported messages and the switch has to be "unlocked" to work?
