My Precious.....

Yeah, I've been buying these. They have a decent supply, but I bought 40 in one shot in case other people clear them out before I can get a decent number of these.

When the recent order shows up, will have 47 chassis / 94 servers of these. Currently have 3 chassis mining and 4 more to set up, waiting on 40 chassis to arrive. It gets old testing out server and motherboard models, only to not buy them anymore once you find a good one. My ultimate goal is to have a lot more than 47 of these chassis, but it's a good start.

Anyway, I got some power numbers finally. The "ipmitool dcmi power reading" doesn't account for all the power use because of the shared chassis. So needed to hook up a meter to get good numbers.

385 watts per chassis (2 nodes), mining Aeon on dual e5-2680v2 (per node), with 8 cores per CPU enabled in the bios. 32gb sandisk usb stick for the OS, 2x4gb ddr3 ecc 1.5v. 4000-4100 h/s per node, so roughly 8,100 h/s for 385 watts. 21.0 h/s/w.

Going to a full 10 cores adds about 20w (haven't tested 10 cores active with a meter, this was measured from ipmitool watt reportings with 8 vs 10 cores) and only gives you about 100h/s extra. 5 h/s/w with increased cores -- not worth it.
Care to share BO accepted for these servers?
I just bought New 2U Supermicro SYS-6027TR-HTFRF 4 Node Server LGA2011 DDR3 X9DRT-HIBFF for 1050 shipped, or about 262.50 each node. I did have to buy memory from them as well to get that price.

I would love to get servers down to 250 each without mem/cpu to keep costs down on hardware.

I bought a couple myself at higher than the lowest price I've seen while I was watching them. Really the best way to get costs down is to buy a large enough quantity to amortize freight shipping on (10+).

You guys are getting into CPU mining?

I mining with 10 x 2U 4 nodes chassis.
Outside temp is 56 F degree, I am sweating now even with 4 open windows.

Free heat ;)
I think for now the one 2u 4node with e5-2680v2 cpu will be my last item for a while. I dont have the space for much more.
With all my new stuff i should be about 24-26 K/h mining aeon. I still waiting to see what pool comes out for nvidia cards which i have 1080 ti, 1080 and 750 ti waiting for :)

new server is here, now waiting on 8 x e5-2680v2 cpu to show up.

Just got three of those myself. Very impressed at the engineering and quality. I figured out that it'll beep at you if you only connect one PSU. I disengaged the other one and it shut up. :)

Just waiting on a few more bits and then I can pull the trigger on some Colo goodness. :)

The eBay vendor selling me my 2U unit like that had an issue with PayPal and didn’t send it. So I disputed the charge and just got two eatx boards. Not ideal and not as cool as your setup but I hope to join soon

im thinking of getting miner usb pcie slot expanders. each node seems to have 3 pcie slots. I just dont know if they would be able to handle video cards.

Any one have specs on how much power the pcie slots should be able to handle? Im thinking of getting 3 1050 ti video cards (each rated for 75watts max) for each node.

thoughts on doing that?

If you get the miner style expanders they expect to have some sort of power fed into them (Molex, SATA or PCIE). You'd need another PSU to drive them as the 2u servers have no provision for extra power hookups. I'm planning to run 1x 1050 installed inside each node.

I started with "Hey, I noticed the power circuit feeding your closet isn't fully utilized" and negotiated down from there. We are now at "Just please don't burn the house down."
I started with "Hey that friend of mine I haven't seen in a while is coming over". That became "oh yeah, he's going to install those usb charging power outlets you've been asking me to do for 6 months". Went from there to "don't mind all that noise".

"Just please down burn the house down" is about where we are now as well.

Did you see the 5119T results? 2360H/s on an 85W TDP cpu? That's sick. Too bad it's $1500 LOL

Don't expect to pull --any-- power off of pcie extension cables. If you want to GPU mine with these, plan to hook up the GPUs and the risers to an additional external power supply. There are no appropriate connectors on the servers for connecting GPU power.

Probably the best bang / buck for GPU mining right now are 3GB GTX 1060's. Most of the nvidia GPU lineup gives you about "1 sol / s per $1" (zcash mining). At a little over $200 each, the 3GB 1060 can do about 270 sol / s, thus being the only nvidia gpu to go significantly above that "1 sol/s per $1" level.

However, the power efficiency crown is going to go to the GTX 1080. At a 140w TDP setting they can do 500 sol/s (sometimes more) -- 3.6 sol/w. Full chart here:

GTX 1060 3gb: 270 sol/s -- 85w -- 3.2 sol/w -- $230
GTX 1070: 430 sol/s -- 130w -- 3.3 sol/w -- $430
GTX 1080: 500 sol/s -- 140w -- 3.6 sol/w -- $530
GTX 1080ti: 700 sol/s -- 200w -- 3.5 sol/w -- $750

These are all "bog standard" performance values. Some better models of cards consistently do a little better performance at these power levels. Some cheaper models of cards do a little worse.

Monday, this week, I have no Nvidia card for mining.

Today, I have a GTX 1080ti , 2 x GTX 1070ti in house. Yesterday, ordered 2 x GTX 1080 from Amazon.

I am sick and need help.

GeForce GTX 1070 Ti , 64 C , 115 W , 487 Sol/s , 4.23 Sol/W
GeForce GTX 1070 Ti , 60 C , 116W , 489 Sol/s , 4.22 Sol/W

GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, 58 C , 193W , 702 Sol/s , 3.6 Sol/W

Goal for me is tweak the card for higher Efficiency the better, GTX 1070ti is the front runner between the two.
