I need a set of the older / wide rails for the SC846. I believe the part number is MCP-290-00014. Can anyone help?

Not sure if this helps but Mr. Rackables on eBay (unixsurplus.com) carries rails for the SC846 for about $65.

Those wide rails are impossible to find, and others here claim they are very expensive if and when you do find them. So, while I know it's not at all what you (or the rest of us [in other threads] around here) are looking for, I had this "what if" eureka moment and subsequently found these 7957 {12" - 36"} slide rails for: 30" @ $125 - $115(5+) / 32" @ $130 - $120(5+) that support up to 350 pounds; mounted side or flat (I never seen or heard of flat mounting). Of course that means a little metal fabrication to get a complete working solution. It's a start, at least, towards a potential solution. Another quick search yields 3640A lateral file drawer slides - bolt onto the case or tap the side of the case and a few pieces of appropriate angle iron just might work.

If you don't need rails, use a shelf. If you really need the rails while a bit off the wall, you may want to see if you can pickup a newer chassis with rails on a deal and ebay yours. Those rails are extremely expensive if you can find them.

Or pickup an older 836 chassis with rails and then resell it without the rails.

I actually asked SuperMicro support about this a few days ago. Their response was that these rails are no longer in stock (as expected), but they suggested I should look into the universal rails at Universal Server Rack Mount Rails | RackSolutions. Note: They suggested, nothing else. I have no idea if they will fit or not. Instead I ordered a newer case from ebay just 5 minutes ago.

Can someone point me to a picture of what they look like? We have a bin of about 20 or 30 rails no longer used and they've been sitting there for years. So I'm wondering if there might be a pair of these in the bin

I have a set of rails, that MIGHT be what you're looking for. They look right based on a Google image search - but I can't find any part numbers on them, other than "Taiwan" and "1039"

MCP-290-00014-00 is indeed the correct part number. You're going to have a very difficult time finding them however. They were really only present on the very original 836/846 chassis revisions. Supermicro discontinued them over 8 years ago. This is what they look like: https://shop.delwi-itr.de/media/image/5e/08/aa/20046928_1.jpg

With that said, the OP hasn't logged in in 6+ months.

Option B if you can't find the rails or find them at a reasonable price as crazy as it sounds would be to pickup a later rev chassis that supports the more common rails. Then resell the original chassis.
