So I went to bed early exhausted last night and woke up this morning recalling finding an Intel 4800x for $1000. I can't find it, so... now I'm wondering... was I dreaming about this drive :D o_O

If not, where can I get it for $1k only LOL :(

For what it's worth the 900P does not have end to end data protection like the 4800x, and a couple other things that are less important excluding the endurance which is obviously the big one.

Also note, I'm not running out to spend retail on a 4800x :p but spending $1k for it vs $700 for a 900P would be an easy choice.

Enhanced Power Loss Data Protection = Yes Intel® Product Specification Comparison

On endurance, 480 * 10 per day versus 375 * 30 per day so sure

That extra 105GB is like a 375GB at almost 13 drive writes per day

480GB 900p is 8.76pb writes so I doubt anyone here is going to hit that on a reasonable sized server.

I'm not sure what point you're attempting to make. The 900P is not the same as a 4800x.
I'm not saying what people here are going to "hit", you are claiming that.

Intel® Optane™ SSD DC P4800X Series

Look at the specifications.

4800X has "End to End Data Protection" the 900P does not.
Once again, I did not say one thing about PLP you brought that up.

The 900P 480 is rated for 8PB the 4800X is rated for 20PB that's 2x the endurance rating.

Will the 900P take sales from 4800X, yes, but not in call cases.

I'm still not clear why you're arguing for 'people here' use case, all I said was I thought I had saw it for $1k, or maybe it was a dream :p and as I also said for $1k I'd get it over the 900P but for retail, no, or I would have one already ;)

Just that you can save money by not overbuying endurance @T_Minus more capacity and lower cost with the 900p

Picked up 2x 280GB AIC's locally today. Slightly overpriced but I wanted them sooner.

I think a detailed P4800x vs 900p comparison with benchmarks will be very very interesting. So far, I already figured out from online pics that the controller is different, similar to the Intel 750 vs P3700 case, the optane chips are off by the last digit meaning the endurance ratings are different. Firmware is definitely different as well.

:)
