That's it :). All I need are 8 HDD screws, stuck in a small envelope, with a postage stamp on the outside so that the kind folks of the USPS can take care of business and get them to me.

The catch is I need the kind that will sit truly flush, like this:
http://www.conrad-electronic.co.uk/...9/9700/9760/9768/976830_GB_00_FB.EPS_1000.jpg

The flattest ones I have are this kind:

They are not nearly flat enough, even though they look very flat. The drive cages don't slide into my new-to-me IBM X3640 M3 when I use the flattest screw I have.

Happy to throw a buck your way via PayPal to cover postage, or I can just pay it forward.

Thanks!

But I need 8 of them, not 100, and if my fellow STHers are like me before I moved they have hundreds sitting around. Would rather not pay $10 for 8 screws (MMC charges shipping), then have to store 92 of them for the next 12 years.

you might need to get the specs for the screws required for your chassis, countersunk flat head screws come in all sorts of different angles; what you're looking for might be more specific than what the average STHer might have lying around.

that said, Supermicro 2.5" HDD screws are countersunk flat head with a relatively thin head. You can buy a bag for under $6 on Amazon:

And keep the other 92 screws for the next STHer that needs a screw.

Also, I'm sure you are aware that the threads are different on 2.5 & 3.5 drives. May be quicker to try a local computer HW store. Based on the links you posted guessing you are somewhere in UK or EU.

I have ones that should work for you, they have very flat countersunk heads. These are for 2.5 inch drives right?

PM me your address and I'll send you some.

Thanks, learned a lot in this thread (never knew 2.5 and 3.5 had different threads!).

David, thanks for the generous offer. Will PM now.

I just bought 100 of the aforementioned screws for supermicro trays, but they are for 3.5" drives. Let me know if you need these and I can mail you some...

David just mailed some. Thank you though. Appreciate the thoughtfulness of the STH community.
