yeah, that would be cool indeed.
maybe fill it up with dd if=/dev/random just to have something stored there, too ...
or doing some fancy hw-hacks with sgpio and the led's ... hmm ...

48x4 pixels is a bit on the low side, even with double data rate (2 leds per drive) ... but you can do great sound o/c :D

yes, a lot of sc216 would be nicer ...
but could be a fan-wall or fan-tower next to my desk for hot summer days, the led's visualizing either the power-draw or the sound of the fans

The more i think about the more i feel the seller should donate them to an art-project i'd setup,

Filling bottom to top with old high rpm sas drives. Then i'd create an audio-visual + airflow performance by ramping the fans up and down, letting the drives sing and the led's blink. With the rear drives this could be sort of a surround-experience, where the audience get's their hair dried by the fans, too :D

He did 675EUR for one if anyone else is interested.
My current case is almost full, so I figured i bite the bullet and a decent case. Especially since Decent deals on cases are not often in Germany.

Do you know if you can install 846/847 chassis on their sides like a workstation?
Thank you

Because I don't have a rack cabinet to put it in. So I was thinking to put it on its side next to the SC743 workstation that is currently sitting in the hallway of my apartment.
