the irony really is HDD keep getting bigger, but our file sizes do too so we're not really storing more pictures or videos LOL

Well Blu-Ray ISO's are 43.7 GB's
Blu-Ray 1080P or 4K?
Movie?

They all matter, I'm generalizing when I say it's obvious that 265 will yield a smaller file size than 264, the ironic part of it all is we're all going to 4K (or more) rwhich is obv. much > file size than 1080p ;) so we get better encoding optimization, more storage capacity on 1 drive yet our files are still LARGER than last generation. (due to increase in quality in this example.)

This is what I mean by my first post ;) more capacity, sure but relative to storage needs not really.

I only have one Blu-Ray title, Guardians of the Galaxy.
I ripped it to my NAS, that's how much space it takes. I believe its 4K, looks very nice on my displays.

You are correct with file sizes and now many of us store tons of movies which eats up a lot of space.

Note that a lot of the 10TB drives are $399 today (at least on on NewEgg) - I have 6 of the Seagate Baracuda Pros Seagate 10TB 7200 RPM 256MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s Hard Drive-Newegg.com and I would go with them over any of the the NAS versions for the same price to get higher x-fer rates with the 7.2k vs 5k RPM. Also 5yr vs 3yr warranty and 4x the cache on the drive.
It still takes a LONG time to load 10TB of data on the drives either way.
