Grabbed one of this 12x3,5 last week for NAS with 2x2603 (gonna switch them to 2x e5 2650l v2) and 64GB RAM. If the unit will be silent enough, i am gonna order 2 more ( this time 24x2.5 versions) for for new proxmox/ceph nodes.

This seller is great (I bought all my Dell r510's off him) but the postings are often *very* inconsistent or at times completely misleading. Some care is needed (but not to put you off him cos everything I have bought once I'd verified the posting was completely on the money)

So server just came in. Its missing sas cables and HDDs (suppose to be 2x500GB) but instead it got 8x1GBIT LAN and 2x 10GBIT SFTP card. Another thing that server is not booting, just beeping 1-5-4-2 ...

FCK ME ... So after fighting with server i menage to get i running. Long story short. CPU1 (!!!) was missing and that's why there was this error ... After moving CPU from socket 2 to 1 and doing proper ram configuration (as well removing PCI card) server finally booted to bios ...

Have you looked up what the beep code means?

E5-2603, but i am gonna replace it with 2x e5 2650l. And remember that i ordered this server week before this deal (same seller) with 2x e5 2603 and 64GB RAM so it should come with this cpus. Well at last one came of two ... And according to seller sas cables are optional with additional sas card.

After chating with seller he is sending missing cpu and hdds. But yeah, i wasnt planing this level of troubleshooting today :p

Yes, is replaying to messages really fast.

BTW on the plastic cover (for proper air colling) on CPU/RAM is dedicated mounting space for 2 SSD.

This server under acustic mode with balance power mode is quiet as fck. LIKE REALLY QUIET (quiet library level) . Gonna order 2 more with 24x2.5.
