I have an Intel 1U Model R1208RPOSHOR. This is for Intel E3/i3 v3/haswell based CPUs.
Intel® Server System R1208RPOSHOR Product Specifications
Motherboard Model:
Intel® Server Board S1200V3RP Family

I'm using an Intel i3-4150T which is on the approved list of CPUs.
I tried with RAM modules: M391B5273Dh0-CH9 and also with them removed.

I've got power going into 1 power supply, not both. I've tried with both in and power to 1, and with 1 in and power to that 1.

I get nothing on my monitor, and the system continuously ramps up the fan speed and then drops it over and over, and never POSTs.

Any ideas? Does this Intel 1U require power to both supplies to boot/work?

  • Tried 2nd PSU -- nothing
  • Tried 2 other Haswell CPUs (1 same model, 1 different)
  • This is the post beep errors:
    POST Beep Error: 1-5-4-4

Power control fault Power good assertion timeout - Power unit sensors report soft power control failure offset.

The BEEP Errors occur when 1 PSU is used, or both.

Any idea what that error actually means?

So does anyone have a CPU on the 'Processors with no BIOS requirement' listed above?

I only have i3-4150t, i3-4160, e3-1231 v3

Of course, ALL of them require updated BIOS!!

I have a 1230 V3 which it looks like is okay. I'm out of town until Sunday and in Canada, but if nobody else steps up I can lend you one. Just pay the shipping both ways.

Couple of thoughts I'd just throw out there as I don't know the answers to any of them :)
  • Does the board have IPMI?
  • Do you actually need a CPU installed to run IPMI?
  • If you don't need a CPU installed can you use IPMI to update the bios?
Cheers

@strh great idea, I know a little about your thoughts.

- It won't power on without the CPU, but maybe you don't need full power on the CPU for IPMI?

- I'm not familiar with Intel systems at all and am not sure if you can update Bios via IPMI.

I'll look into this :) or maybe someone here knows too?

Thanks! I got a PM too, I think now I'm covered between you and him on a loaner CPU!!
Thank you guys, very much appreciated.

I've got some low offers ($30) for some i3 and pentiums on ebay... hoping I can get a CPU for $30-$40 vs. a loaner cpu and paying $16 in shipping :D :D

I'll be in contact if I don't end up getting one elsewhere.

Thanks everyone who offered a CPU up on loan!

I was able to get a CPU off ebay.

Fingers crossed that's all it is :)

Same issue as before with this 'new/used' cpu. (Which came packaged very poor.)

POST Beep Error: 1-5-4-4

Power control fault Power good assertion timeout - Power unit sensors report soft power control failure offset.

So, anyone have any idea what this error actually means? I was hoping it was some obscure error for 'invalid cpu' but that's apparently not the case now with this other cpu, same error as before :(

So I hooked up the mobo to my bench Power Supply... she booted right up!

So something is up with the intel power distribution as I find it hard to believe BOTH power supplies are bad :(

If you have the correct part #, message or call OEM XS / Kalleyomalley. To see if they have any in stock. I have a spare pdb for P4000 chassis. Not sure if that is compatible with your chassis. Can you let me know what the power supply model is? Intel has crps (Common Redundant PS) for many chassis
