Well, forget everything I said yesterday. These are all working now, in all ports:

Cisco SFP-H10GB-CU1M
Cisco SFP-H10GB-CU3M
HP 684517-001/Amphenol 0.5M

I mounted the switch in my rack today, which required that I unplug it. Maybe that's what it needed to sort everything out. Who knows?!?!?

Code:
(UBNT EdgeSwitch) #show fiber-ports optics-info all

Yep...I just verified that Cisco SFP-H10GB-CU3M works in every port. There is currently one in port 3.

Unfortunately that is not the case with my switch.
As mentioned before they are only detected on port 5,6,7,8.

Hi All, can anyone confirm is this DAC http://www.molex.com/molex/products/datasheet.jsp?part=active/0747521301_CABLE_ASSEMBLIES.xml able to work with the ES-16-XG? I'm planning to get one for my POCs/demos but due to cost and returned policies where i lived it's kinda difficult to take the gamble. Thanks all and keep up the great work!

Hi All, I just got my ES-16-XG today. Sadly [emoji30] I can confirmed that the Molex DAC SFP+ Passive Cable Assembly, 10Gbps, 30 AWG Cable, Pull-to-Release Plunger Style Latch, 3.0m Length (Part Number: 74752-1301) is not working/compatible. No link detected at the web mgmt, no lights at both ends.

Anyone try the 10gbase-t on the es-16-xg? If it is still available on beta, I'd get it. But I want it to work with xeon-d 10gbase-t. In the beta discussion forum at ubnt, people reported the es-16-xg didn't work with 10gbase-t from xeon-d, like the supermicro.

I'm also having issues with CU3M, what revision are you using? mine are revision 09

Same here, couldn't get my two CU3Ms working either.

Here's the odd part, I updated my Unifi-beta XG-16 to 3.7.24.5422 from 3.7.19.5372, still couldn't get the DAC cable to work, as shown here:

I tried every port, none would work. I unplugged it and plugged it back in, and still nothing.

Today though, about three days later, I find the SFP+ indicator is solid white for one direct-attach-copper cable. Wtf right?

Out of my two CU3M, one is working on port 8, the other won't work at all. If I move ports it won't work.

But the Ubnt MM transceiver + um3 fiber cable work on any SFP+ port.

This is extremely unnerving. Why they would work with some and some others really makes me nervous to use this in any production. I just ordered 10x CU3M cables, in which seems will be another gamble with above's report. I have an in with UBNT and going to reach out to see if there is anything they can tell us. Last time I spoke with the team working on the XG-16 beta firmware, they said DAC cables were most difficult and to use transceivers. Disappointing.........

Yeah, I would not recommend the XG-16 for production use for at least ten months, maybe a year from now. By then the software issues should be resolved.

Honestly at my old job we used a Quanta LB6M as the 10gbps switch, and it was somewhat buggy but in a different way.

I feel bad though for anyone that paid $599 for this switch, in it's current state it's worth $299.

Did you let it plugged in for the three days? Or did you remove it and plugged it in again after three days?

I'm asking because when I got my connect x2 card and connected it directly to one of the sfp+ ports of my xeon d mainboard it took over 3 minutes to get a link. Maybe it's the same for this switch.

I left it plugged in for three days.

At my server room I spent probably 3-3 1/2 hours trying to get it to work on day 1 (when the DACs arrived). I had two DACs shown, one plugged into a Windows PC that works fine with the UBNT transceiver + fiber cable, and the other was my Proxmox node.

In the end port 8 DAC, works with the Proxmox and PC, but all the other ports won't work with the DAC cable.

Oh and I did install a software update a few minutes ago to go from 3.7.24.5422 to 3.7.29.5446.

So far the issue is the same though :/.

At least my Proxmox box has SFP+ finally :).

I ordered a Ubiquiti Beta US-16-XG, but I have not been able to test it yet due to cabling and optics. For now I would like to run 10g connections to 2 servers a workstation and at least 1Gb fiber connection to another switch that is 60-70ft away. More if LAGs or LACP is supported, but this isn't really necessary. I have a variety of Mellanox ConnectX2-EN, ConnectX3-EN and Intel 82599 based cards to work with

I have a fair amount of plenum rated OM1 and OM3 in various lengths that was pulled from a data center. I tested a lot of it in PtP connections before putting it in storage.

Given that I already have the cable, lower latency with fiber, longer distance is supported and as a result hiding cable can be a bit easier is there any reason not to use fiber vs DACs?

I intended to order a few of the Ubiquiti MM SFP+ GBICs, but it appears that they are sold out. Does anyone know where else I might find these?

I just ordered 2 Intel E10GSFPSR SFP+ modules since they were listed as supported on the first page. I'll likely wait before I purchase any more, but are these a decent choice or might I have better luck with the Mikrotik modules ( I haven't seen any reports of trouble with them).

1 of the servers will also be next to the switch and a DAC makes sense. I've seen a few reports of the Cisco DACs not working. Might going Mikrotik be a better option here too? (It seems odd that the less expensive equipment seems to be working better)
