Since ServeTheHome still seems to be the only place around with benchmarks of the new E3-1200 Series I figured it is a good time to make a thread dedicated to them.

The E3-1200 Family Lineup:

ServeTheHome Benchmarks of the Intel Xeon E3-1200 series:
Intel Xeon E3-1220 Benchmarks and Review
Intel Xeon E3-1230 Benchmarks and Review
Intel Xeon E3-1280 Benchmarks and Review

More info to come.

Update 14 March 2011: It does appear that Intel has pulled the E3-1200 family from channels where quite a few people have received the chips lately. After speaking with Intel, it seems as though the early release of the few chips was due to a distributor mix up resulting in a premature release. The Xeon E3 series has not been released, which is why as of March 14 there is no information on Intel’s site, yet but I expect more information to be forthcoming in the near future. Being clear, the Xeon E3 chips have not launched yet and that is the reason for their unavailability.

Update April 2011: Launch date expected 5 April 2011

Currently testing the E3-1230 in a C204 motherboard with an onboard LSI SAS2008 controller and seeing 107w max power consumption under Folding@Home with 100% CPU utilization.

Asking for a bit of help: I tried to update all three reviews (Xeon E3-1220, E3-1230, and E3-1280) with appropriate power consumption numbers. That required substantial re-writes on the previously posted reviews. If anyone sees anything that looks really off, please PM me as this is a very busy week here.

Patrick, Thanks for all the reviews, it seems you're the only one reviewing the E3's right now. Do you have plans to review the 12x5's? I wonder if HD P3000 loses some consumer functions, such as HD video playback, bitstream... or is it simply HD3000 + professional extras? That would be awesome. Did you try any 12x5's with H67 consumer boards that use HDMI out with audio? Thanks!

dodoei: I just might be the only one. Frankly, I am really surprised. I would like to review the 12x5's but budget this month has been exceeded (several times over) gearing up for G34 testing. This may be something I do look into in the next few weeks. I also do not have a C206 board at this point so that is something else that I need to work on.
