Can someone repost the 5K3000 2TB A10 firmware? I'm hoping it might fix a problem I'm having with one of these drives. The freefileshosting and tourubackup links from post #247 are both dead.

As for the problem, one out of my array of 5 identical drives is having extremely poor write performance. All five max out sustained reads at 118MB/sec. Three can do the same for sustained writes. The others have a harder time at writing. One site more in the mid 90s for writes, and the other bounces around the low 20s with occasional bursts of up 60. Both problem drives show no errors in the SMART data even after full length scans. I've also double checked the write caches are definitely switched on and swapped everything around different cables and controller channels so that's not it either. The controller is a Dell SAS6ir in JBOD mode. Anybody seen anything like this before?

Thanks

Hey guys,

got the A10 firmware for my "HDS5C3030ALA630 - 0F12460".

After backing up all my data, I made an up- and downgrade to all 4 discs (including the new one) to 800, builded a new raid5 and initialized it. After finishing I made some checks, everything worked as it should. Then I degraded the raid5 by the new disc, made the upgrade back to A10 and formatted the disc. After putting it back to the areca the raid rebuild started automatically. When raid state "normal" arrived, I checked again and everthing works as it should. So finally I upgraded all 4 discs to A10. Now it runs without problems for nearly one week.

I second the request to post the firmware. Just to clarify, you are using 3 TB 5K3000 Hitachi discs?

I appologize for saying that... and thanks a lot, I needed this firmware quickly !
No problem. Most times I use tapatalk for my forums, but sth doesn't support it. So, it's hard to get back here. Tapatalk is really comfortable when using a smart phone.

Greetings

No, absolutely not: http://www.freefilehosting.net/0f12460a10dos_2

Didn't test the dos updater, used hitest 2.38 for the update.

Greetings Hoppel
Thanks for the firmware. I will plan to upgrade a 6-drive RAID6 array that is currently at version 580. Can I do this (using motherboard SATAII port) from windows using hi-test 2.38? Trying to create a DOS boot CD or USB flash drive is always such a PITA and seems to mostly not work. Who has a floppy drive these days?

Dont forget:

Boot the system and enter the BIOS, disable AHCI for the onboard SATA controller (which should toggle a legacy IDE compatibility mode)

The DOS updater doesn't see my 0F12460 5K3000 3 TB disc in IDE mode on port 0. It has filename "MKDLBRD.EXE", while the firmware is "ME0NRA10.BD". I suspect the updater is not correct for the 3 TB 5K3000 discs. Hi-test does not appear to run under win 7 x64, so I need the DOS updater.

Does anybody have the correct updater for these drives?

I had the same problem with the dos updater and firmware 800, so that I decided to install XP an HiTest on an extra hdd. Maybe it's an option for you.

800 is the latest AFAIK. It's OK.
I've found some drives 7K3000@2TB 0F12115 on eBay with pictures, they are manufactured on Jun-2012 and they come with firmware A10.
Look this one. Even the S/N past the warranty check on the Hitachi website saying warranty expires on 2015-06-05.

Kryptex, how did you do the update? With HiTest or did you use the DOS tool?

Greetings Hoppel
Hoppel, the MKDLBRD.exe DOS updater zipped with both 800 and A10 DOS FW packages intended for 5K3000 does NOT work on my 5K3000 @ 3TB drive. Someone at Hitachi probably made a mistake when packaging the MKDLBRD.exe updater with the 5K3000 firmwares (ME0NR800.BD and ME0NRA10.BD). Also, this "bad" updater (wrong name and wrong content) is different from the DOS updater with the same name provided for the 7K3000 @ 3TB drive.

Considering Hitachi's name convention, the MKDLBRD.exe DOS flasher corresponds to the 7K3000 @ 3TB drive exclusively.
For 5K3000 @ 3TB we need the MEDLBRD.exe DOS flasher (which I haven't seen yet).

To update 5K3000 @ 3TB to firmware A10 I used HiTest 2.38 under WinXP SP3 32-bit installed on another boot drive.

pnkiller78, me too, I'd like to have the A10 firmware for the 7K3000 @ 2TB drive, of which I have several (all updated to FW 800, running great so far).
