Would you please share your RAM brand and product code? I already tried with LRDIMM (SAMSUNG M386A8K40BM1 CPB), but no luck.
So probably it just won't work
Yes probably.
I once had a lab build with NUC6i3SYK. Its CPU i3-6100U spec supports 32GB RAM at most. However, it works just fine with 64G (32x2). Don't know if Xeon D-1587 could be similar
I've found my homelab build with X10SDV-16C-TLN4F is now limited by its 128G RAM capacity.
Although the mother board spec says it supports up to 128GB registered ECC RDIMM with 2133/1866/1600MHz. I wonder if anyone successfully upgrade to 256GB (64x4)?
It is a pity supermicro doesn't...
How about the temperature?
I tried 3 noctua 40x20 PWM fans + SNK-C0057A4L Heatsink, the temperature is around 63C while it is idle (environment around 30C in summer). It is too high to run it 7x24
Hello
I am planning to upgrade my home lab and need your advice on 10GbE switch.
Low power assumption and low noise. I have my rack in the living room so it is important
8 or more SFP+ ports
L2 features like VLAN, jumbo frame
Support DAC cable
Optionally L3 static routing
Any suggestion...
I just have my 2 SYS-E300-8D setup done (ESXi 6U2). Those 40mm little fans are rather annoying: they are constantly at 6000-7000 RPM (~80% of full speed, CPU temperature around 50C) even ESXi is idle. Already got complains from my wife... Really appreciate it if someone can share experience in...
