Brocade ICX Series (cheap & powerful 10gbE/40gbE switching)

Pull whatever version of V9 you want from here (IMO they'll have to pry 8 from my cold dead hands): https://support.ruckuswireless.com/products/105-ruckus-icx-7250-campus-switches Follow these instructions to update: https://fohdeesha.com/docs/brocade-overview.html

You can splice into one of the existing fans. I'd recommend using new connectors instead of trying to splice the wires themselves.

Add a fan to the ASIC heat sink. I used a Sunon MF60101V3-1000U-A99 in my 7250-48P. I also suspect the fans you swapped in aren't really up to the task (10.3 feels kinda low to me, I think something in the 17-19 range would be better), but you'd have to see if the ASIC solution at least got you...

I run mine in the back - just makes a heck of a lot more sense from a cable management perspective. Didn't reverse the fans - didn't seem to matter.

Yes, attach it to the CPU heat sink. Sorry, I wish i'd taken pics of this at the time. There's no perfect attachment points, I just used some heavily threaded screws and they bit into the heat sink enough that it holds it in solidly. I never found myself having to cool the SFP area, seemed...

Ruckus Wireless as an Unifi alternative?

Anyone here have much experience with the Guest network? I set one up for the when the family visited over Thanksgiving and every user (regardless of device type/OS) had to login twice. First time would always fail, second time would work. Is this a known thing, or anyone have any thoughts on...

I replaced mine with Mechatronix, they've been perfect for me. Best bet is sticking a fan on the ASIC as well, makes all the difference.

Wanted to plug my post on my fan changes to a 7250-48p. https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/brocade-icx-series-cheap-powerful-10gbe-40gbe-switching.21107/page-159#post-256375

Make sure the fan is attached to the ASIC heat sink, not the case. I used screws and just screwed right into the fins of the heat sink. Been great for almost 2 years now.

To go with the supercomputer they're selling. Mentor Graphics Veloce2 Quattro "System on Chip" SoC RTL Emulator Supercomputer | eBay That's a lot of switches, lol.

My 7250-48P pulls around 55W with a few PoE cams attached. I'm still convinced the 7250 is THE best L3-10G switch for homelab use - considering low power draw, fairly low noise (moddable even moreso) and switching power, plus it's a fairly recent/supported design.

This is what I did. The secret sauce is slapping a fan on the ASIC and changing out the fans. https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/brocade-icx-series-cheap-powerful-10gbe-40gbe-switching.21107/page-159#post-256375
