    Jumping on the 10Gbe wagon

One of the motivations for upgrading to 10GbE is that I need to move around aprox 30TB of media back and forth due to upgrading one of my storageservers with new bigger drives. I know its overkill and on a day to day basis I will not be able to utilize the full potential of the 10GbE between the...

    Jumping on the 10Gbe wagon

On my workstation (Win7) I installed the newest driver and my card accepted both non-Intel tranceivers without any issue. I also put another card into a esxi boks I have running, and everything worked after just booting machine back up again. Havnt tested any performance, just that I can still...

    Need 10gb sfp+ transceivers

Just finished testing, and everything works. The D-Link switch accepts both tranceivers I had, from Finisar and Fiberstore. I bought a few Intel X520-DA2 NICs and it too accept both brands of tranceivers I have. (sorry for highjacking thread btw OP :))

    Need 10gb sfp+ transceivers

I have the D-Link DGS-1510-28X and I bought a few D-Link DEM-431XT-DD Compatible 10GBASE-SR SFP+ from Fiberstore.com. I also have a few Finisar FTLX8571D3BNL-E5. The switch detects temperatures and watt-useage from the tranceivers (the Finisar ones ran hotter than the ones from Fiberstore, in a...

    Need 10gb sfp+ transceivers

Daisy replied to an email I sendt in just 17 minutes this week, reguarding a $230 order. Now, if Daisy is really a person or just an account/name shared by all their customer support people I have no knowledge about, but if she is based in HK/China, the local time was 11.34pm sunday night when...

    Jumping on the 10Gbe wagon

For a while now I have been thinking about upgrading some servers and a workstation to faster network, and for me 10Gbe is the next logical step. This is for my home network, so nothing mission critical etc. For me noice is a bigger concern over cost, but then again I will have to pay for...

Intel X540-T2 - passive or active cooling

Thinking about buying a few Intel X540-T2 10gbit nics, and I see that it comes with passive cooling and active cooling (only Dell clone?). How hot does these get? I will use them in my home, and will not get hammered 24/7 by a long shot. Two of these will each be in a Norco chassis , and I want...

The best/ worst kept secret in 2.5" to 3.5" converters

Quick question: Would those Dell converters work with the caddies for a C6100 or a (early gen) Norco? Or are they limited to only work with the Dell caddies mentioned in the eBay auction (0F238F, F238F, 0X968D, X968D, 0G302D, G302D)? I've bought both Icy Dock (MB882SP-1S-1B) and Kingston...

New MB purchased - any thoughts

I bought my X8DTH-6F in march of 2012, and have not had any issues what so ever. Ran it inititally with a single E5620 but this summer I upgraded to dual L5639. Had some problems booting up my OpenIndiana-installation after the CPU-swap, but it turned out to be some AHCI-settings in the BIOS...

    Taming the C6100

Quick update: I just swapped the pin-order on my fan-extentions, to what Idea wrote and showed pics of in his post, and now I get to see the rpm-reading on all 4 fans via IPMI on all 4 nodes, which I was unable to earlyer. The supermicro-fans were also noticable much more quiet than the...

    Taming the C6100

8" is not enough if you're using the Supermicro-fans, you need 14"/35cm to be able to connect the fan furthest away. I posted some pics in this thread a few pages back, in post #151 in this thread (direct link...

    Taming the C6100

Just checked my cables, and they were set in reverse order to what you ended up with. Gonna swap them around again when I get back from work today. My server has been sitting offline for the past months, since I first went on summervacation and then work has been keeping me busy. I was...
