MEGA 2.5GbE Switch Guide Update with 21 New Models Added

I'd respectfully disagree. If only because 2.5 GBase-T is becoming the default bundled Ethernet port on consumer/prosumer systems. And high-end consumer/DIY server mobos also seem to be bundling 10GBase-T. If ya got it, why not use it? Sure, I'd much rather they bundled a 10/25G SFP instead...

    EXPIRED 1.92TB PM983 $75

I was 100% expecting it to go to "your offer has been sent...24 hours...etc" and then just Buy It Now at 75 (knowing that the STH effect was incoming).

    EXPIRED 1.92TB PM983 $75

Offer of $65 auto-accepted earlier. Woo! Looking forward to my first 110mm NVMEs with PLP. Thanks @foureight84 !

    AMD EPYC 7V13 64 core 128 thread $699

I'm not very familiar with Cinebench, but here are some quick and dirty Cinebench23 multi-core results with SMT enabled (cooling with a SM 2U SP5 active heatsink) All-core boost seems to be limited to 2.55 GHz (HWInfo) CPU hits EDC limit of 255A while PPT/TDP is ~220W The EDC limit can be...

    AMD EPYC 7V13 64 core 128 thread $699

This ES CPU with CPUID 00A00F10 should work on the SM H12SSL series with the latest BIOS 2.8 (February 2024). Here are some topline theoretical numbers, courtesy HWInfo: Processor Name: AMD Eng Sample: 100-000000425_37/24_N Original Processor Frequency...

    AMD EPYC 7V13 64 core 128 thread $699

It should. I'll look at a H12SSL BIOS file to see if the microcode includes this CPU.

    AMD EPYC 7V13 64 core 128 thread $699

Thanks for reporting this. I see weird behavior with on-CPU temp sensors too. Only the Tctl/Tdie temp reporting via OCCT (ie HWInfo engine) appears to be accurate based on when thermal throttling occurs (~90-93 C) and hand feel of heatsink/exhaust air. The CCD/CCX and other on-die Temps appear...

    AMD EPYC 7V13 64 core 128 thread $699

I can confirm this batch of 7V13s work fine on an AsrockRack ROMED8-2T running the latest 3.80 BIOS. TDP is 240W, and base (2.65-2.7) and boost (3.7) clocks match 7713.

temperature of the Broadcom 10Gb LAN controller (BCM57416) on Supermicro motherboards

The Broadcom NIC heatsink appears to be the one behind the PCIE slots. In open bench testing, with no positive airflow across the board, it will easily cross 85C even at idle. These temps are not an issue.

    Epyc 7V13 64 Core Processor

7V13 works fine in Asrock ROMED8-2T, latest BIOS 3.80.

Proof that Asrock (and SM, others) are/were gatekeeping Milan on cheaper boards for no reason

Having recently acquired one of these 7V13 ES, could you perhaps explain why it's more like a QS/B0? (works fine on a ROMED8, btw)

Supermicro X11-DPi-NT for $273 OBO. Shipping from CA extra.

I've found the $12-15 active VGA-to-HDMI adapters with USB power work well enough (no issues with low-current USB 2.0 ports either). But this thread makes me want to scrounge up an old 18" Samsung that I have....somewhere...

    WD Elements 20TB

As I get older, the allure of shucking is lessened by having to carefully store the case and the little doodads (PCB, rubber bumpers, etc.) for 3 years... :) WD periodically runs 20% off 2-packs of the Red Pros with an extra year of warranty (6 total) - the 20 TB Pros would be $304 each.

Also possibly interested in one of the 7763s if you're willing to split up that lot.... :)

What is perc controller and why i need perc controller to configure raid?

Perc is Dell's "brand name" for hardware RAID controllers. You need one if you plan to do hardware RAID.
