Thanks for the info and specifics. I ended up running the EFI version of SAS2FLASH and found that --listall returned no results. Definitely a dead HBA, so I reached out to the seller and he's mailed off a new one!
Where'd you get the firmware for the LSI 2008? Found a few but figured I'd ask.
Decided to just plug the 8087 cables into the SAS ports on the mobo.
...aaaand I see that the SAS 4-7 port doesn't register in the bios. Under SAS Configuration it only sees the SAS 0-3 port and nothing is...
Fans are rated at 4.9A each. They are getting throttled to 50% fanspeed - the problem is that under some conditions they'll go lower, but often times are pegged at 50%
Replacing the fans doesn't change this behavior, but it does seem to behave better with a slower fan like the one we've been...
Anyone have issues with two onboard SATA ports? I have found that I can't seem to get SATA Port 0 to recognize either one of the enterprise SSDs I've put in. The SATA 1 port works fine - and swapping the sata wires to the rear trays has been inconclusive - leading me to think that it's a faulty...
Got the new fans installed -- four V80E12BHA7-57 NIDEC fans. The cables were too short for two of the mounting points - so I used some of these dupont cables to extend the 4-wire, but just buy some 4-pin extension cables and you'll be prepared.
The original fans are 13,000 RPM rated -- 4.9...
I've been buying my Hitachi 2TBs from GoHardDrive despite not being the cheapest vendor.
1 year warranty was the initial draw - but ultimately it became the convenience of knowing I didn't need to label my drives (or keep track of serial numbers) to make sure I could RMA them to the correct seller.
You bought a fan that's nearly half the thickness (and as such - smaller blade surface area) - and only spin at 1800RPM - so your temps will suffer for it.
those idle temps are a little gnarly.
Like others - tried changing the thresholds via IPMI but the BMC isn't honoring it. Been looking for more details on the ASPEED AST2300 (which I see powers many systems, including supermicros) - and I was hoping to stumble on a fan profile - akin to the ones they've got on supermicro boards...
After a series of reboots - mine too is now loud. No updates took place.
Updated BMC but haven't seen a difference (it also crashed upon logging in - so I havent been in it yet).
When about to update the BIOS and Me firmware - it warned be that the BIOS file I got from Quanta doesn't match my...
Here's the video I put on Facebook - feel free to compare fan noise. at 3:00-ish I put the phone in the path of the fans.
As of this post youtube is still processing the HD versions.
Are all of the problem units running 1x proc, or am I confusing things?
I'm guessing the BMC bases fan RPM (at least partly) on CPU die temp - which will obviously be NULL for a socket with a missing processor. Wonder if that is tripping anything up - I'm guessing these were never designed to...
