I finally figured out how to enable graphical monitoring with OpenIndiana, Munin, Smarttools, IPMI and napp-it. This may be obvious to all of you, but if anyone is interested, I can write up the major steps.
You can install apcupsd to manage a graceful shutdown with APC and some other UPS devices. It's possible to compile it yourself, but OpenCSW has a build that works well for me.
I think it's important to emphasize not to add an L2ARC until RAM is at maximum, and then only add if you are sure you need it by checking home >> System >> Statistics >> ARC. I have found that most people don't understand that L2ARC is likely to reduce performance if RAM is constrained.
