meh... buy a WD 8TB mybook for 249 and schuck the drive.. you get a 8TB HGST helium enterprise (if you are lucky as the originals did) or worst case a WD 8TB RED ..

both drives use identical case and electronics and enterprise spindle motor, only spindle speed differ and have significantly better performance and wattage numbers over this 6TB (TB corrected)

reports say that if you plug the serial into the warantee site (the drive not enclosure) it still has a warantee..

by now more than likely you will get a WD red unless you live in the sticks and your local best buy didnt sell its original stock

You can get the 8TB on Jet if you need 3 of them. Three of them is $30 off the order and then you can decline free returns for another 16.50. Then use the 15% off your first three orders: TRIPLE15. Total is $673.47 or $224.49 per drive. I'm slowly talking myself into buying these...

sweet find on Jet .. going to pull 2 since that is more than enough for right now.. and in a year or two they will be MUCH cheaper at the 10TB will be mainstream...

just ordered 2... word to those that dont read the fine print!!! 15% UP TO the first $30.. so I ordered 2 seperatly .. $214 each... lets pray these are old stock so when I crack-em open I find HGST re drives!!! but the NAS REDs just as good for my use!!

oh and I confirmed with customer support.. the free return shipping is only for buyers remorse .. so check it and get your coin back and you can still free return for defects.. WIN WIN , done and done!!

Don't buy them all before I get approval for a budget increase in my FreeNAS build!

I just received my order via Jet and fulfilled by Dell for $249-$30=$219. The drive inside is a WD80EZZX. According to Google search, not WD Red but HGST at 5400 rpm instead of 7200 rpm.

My 1st one from Best Buy was also a WD80EZZX.

The early models got the enterprise drives but were later replaced by RED series drives when they became available according to my links above.. rather than google... TELL US rip those bad boys out and let us know if you won the lottery..

and not that I dont trust Jet.. but I wonder this late in the game if there would be any stock left from the first batches and these are not factory refurbs... let us know what SMART says..

I am really annoyed these last 10 years or more, companies, hard drives, cpus whatever.. release a V0 product so it can get benched.. does well but quietly mass produce rev V1 and they are slower less capable versions.. classis bait / switch which should be illegal ...

but I digress..

Can anyone link me the Jet deal for 8 Gb drives?
Can I make purchases from overseas and use my USA address or is it PayPal/credit card verified address only?
Thanks

NB. Seagate - Backup Plus Desktop 8TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive - Black
  • Model: STDT8000100
  • SKU: 2240085
At Best Buy $23o
Seagate - Backup Plus Desktop 8TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive - Black

comes with 2yr 200GB access to OneCloud

unless you need an 8tb brick for cold storage you dont want the Seagate.. is SMR.. shingled storage.. good speed for large sequential but once you have to delete, copy, or try to run small random read / write the drive goes to shit in a hurry.. imagine a 4 lane highway that you have to tear up 3 lanes of road every time you want to drive on 1...

Anyone outside USA able to buy stuff off jet.com?

I attempted to buy a 8TB Mybook with TRIPLE15 discount + waived free return = $214.49
using my Shipito USA address and shopping cart states it could not verify my card at this time?
EDIT: "please try again later"
