@nthu9280 Glad to hear it was of value to you; it certainly has been for myself. This surplus NIB Intel stuff is like crack, I just keep finding/buying more :)

You could also consider Intel FUP8X35HSDK 8x3.5 Hot-Swap Drive Cage Kit New and swap out the 16x2.5" bays if you ever decided to go that route. I bought one earlier today via a $40 offer just in case I decided to reconfigure my second box :)

Oh, and don't forget an IO shield Intel AXX4IOS I/O Shield for S2600CP4, S1400FP2 And S1400FP4 New Bulk Packaging (if you don't have one already), I just purchased one $4 for my second box.

And they did accept my $5/ea offer for the passive heat sinks Intel AUPSRCBTP Single Passive Heat Sink New Bulk Packaging

They countered $150 + $30 for Intel P4308XXMHGR Server Chassis and I chose not to accept.
Did you try making another counter offer in between $100 and $150?

That's not the right one for the board Natex.us is selling. You want this one: Intel AXX2IOS I/O Shield for S2600CP2, S2400SC2, and S2400GP2 New Bulk Packaging

True, but the -CP4 version will still work with CP2, you'll just have 2 blank NIC openings. Good if supply of -CP2 shields run out.
Yup, that was exactly my take on it too; I couldn't foresee any issue with a couple of extra blank openings in the io shield, so I was a bit complacent when hunting for the shield and providing the link.

Those Intel chassis look pretty good, wondering if anyone has experience with the rail kits for them?

"AUPBEZEL4UF: Rack bezel kit for converting P4000 pedestal server chassis to rack chassis, including bezel frame and two rack handles. AUPBEZEL4UD: Rack bezel accessory for P4000 chassis in rack configuration, including security door only.
Optional Rack Bezel Rack rail options include AXXELVRAIL and AXX3U5UPRAIL"

I can't figure out how it mounts unless you need to remove the "top" and "bottom" case panels to mount it.

The AXX3U5UPRAIL for full extension can be had for ~$100-130 on eBay it looks like.

The chassis has 4 (?) metal pegs to set into the rails on the top/bottom (or sides depending on orientation). When in Pedestal mode, there's a plastic top cap that covers the top pegs, and there are attachable pad/feet to clear the bottom pegs

I tried $130. Looks like $150 was the lowest they were willing on this chassis. They have a huge stock (90+) of the ones with 4216 (2.5" variant) for quite sometime.

Thanks for the reminder. Let me put in the offer on the IO shield and hopefully can combine shipping with the other parts.

> I'll look into that. I'm not planning on building another unit. Just got a 2 node C6100 less than a month ago. They threw in 12 x 2 TB (granted the drives are 5 yrs old don't know how much life they have left. Just changed out the fans in Texas redneck way. Need to solder & heat shrink. Now it's bearable

@nthu9280; are you talking about the Intel AUPSRCBTP passive heat sinks? The ones that come on the natex boards are short little 2u heatsinks and IMHO not suitable for use in the 4u P4000M chassis. The AUPSRCBTP heat sinks are the appropriate 4U heatsinks to use with the P4000M chassis and air duct; it's what Intel designed for the s2600CP and P4000M chassis.

@handruin The case you put the offer on is 'F'ixed bays. Hope that's what you wanted.
couple of pages ago, @jwegman has links to Chassis docs from Intel that shows various part#s - Like 16 variants with different drive, PS and Hotswap combinations

Right. However if @handruin proceeds with acquiring those Fixed bay chassis, he could later consider adding the 8x3.5" HSBP bays (they had accepted a $40 offer for one):
Intel FUP8X35HSDK 8x3.5 Hot-Swap Drive Cage Kit New

It appears I am still doing something wrong... I downloaded the latest efi upgrade package from intel, put it on my usb, located the file and ran the script. But the issue that im having is that I get no questions relating to the actual sdr... All I see is this http://puu.sh/nzh5E/c7e25a545d.jpg. I have tried different versions but none work and all do the same thing. Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks. It's on my watch list and they have a truck load of them :).

Btw, not sure if you noticed P4216's have a technical advisory on recommended way of plugging the power. Attached the pdf. They also have an excel spreadsheet to estimate the PS requirements. I could not attach it here as it has macros. I got both of those from one of the links you provided earlier

struggling to find a good board here in the EU; new ones are so bloody expensive at least for my needs (eeb, a couple of I350) and not many good used ones to be had on ebay ether (or i stink finding good deals)

might be just forced to buy the Z9PE-D16 from Asus and sell a liver; i wonder if it wasn't a mistake jumping the train and should go for a Xeon d instead. I just assumed that with plenty of cheap xeons there will also come plenty of cheap motherboards

Yep, you are right, there are nearly no good dual socket 2011 boards on ebay.de or co.uk. I did find an intel board but that one was 300 euro... But if you are not able to find a motherboard you can make a good profit on the cpu's here in europe seeing as a lot of people do not yet know about this deal and I have seen a huge amount of auctions on ebay for the 2670's going for 150 ish.

Anybody brave enough to try modding the S2600CP BIOS to add the NVME modules?

[Guide] How to get full NVMe support for Intel Chipset systems from 6-Series up
I did, the modification was successful, but the board refuses the BIOS as it has't been signed. If anyone can figure that out it would be nice...

In fact, you don't even need to do it. Just follow this guide and put Tianocore boot module on a USB stick and stick it into the internal USB header and you got NVME boot right away.
