Great price for a 10G switch, but unless anyone knows where I can find cheap transceivers, I'm not willing to bite.

There are plenty of tranceivers to be had...

Finisar FTLX8511D3 FC Force10 10GBASE SR 10GbE 850nm XFP Optical Transceiver | eBay

145w is decent power consumption and 300ns is decent latency as well on this switch.

Not as fast as some of the hot rod switches (mellanox gets <250ns on their current line). But this is 9 year old ASIC tech. Not too shabby.

I'm guessing these things are loud though... Off to find some db specs...

I have no experience with this switch or any cabling for it. But for the price, I was tempted. :)

The CLI looks straight forward and the docs are well laid out. But I was not really looking for a 10gb switch when I stumbled onto this one. Lots of folks interested in 10gb atm though.

Hmmm definitely tempted on this.

I currently have an infiniband setup but I really like the simplicity of 10G ethernet.

Decisions decisions...
