One other thing that happened in the last few months of updates is my ICX-7150 showed up in the Unleashed dashboard, and you can now see port utilisation etc. Previously it would complain that it couldn't log into the switch.

I'm trying to do the region unlock (following your guide) with an R730 and FW 112.1.0.0.504, but after entering !v54! and pressing enter, I just fall back to the normal rkscli. Sadly, R730 is not supported in Unleashed.

Any idea how I could fix this?

I've never had an R730 to test, sorry. I would've expected the root shell escape to work, given the announced patch timeline, but I guess they fixed the R730 earlier than the rest.

You should still be able to change the locked country (option 2 at Bypassing the Country Lock for a US model Ruckus AP)

And if you require a full unlock then I suspect the R730 AP image from ZD 10.1.2.0.120 would work. I can extract and test this this tomorrow if necessary.

I do have another solo vulnerability up my sleeve, but (a) I want to wait until they release their WiFi 7 APs so we have a way of unlocking these, and (b) it will require several hours to implement and I don't have the spare time.

(According to google and reddit:) The r730 was released before a wlan standard was ratified, the standard was changed slightly before being finalized and ruckus was left with a "proprietary" implementation.

And one more thing... a well-connected reddit user implied the R730 could be told it was an R850 (bsp set model R850, bsp commit), and Unleashed would install and be in some way functional: https://www.reddit.com/r/RuckusWiFi/comments/yfxoco/_/iuwbwm6
Of course, you need a way to root the R730 first.

EDIT:

I bought an R730 and confirmed Unleashed can be installed if you patch the model name. A guide is here.

AYYY that did the trick! R730 successfully unlocked :)

I somehow missed the older ZD Image. It was super easy to extract the right firmware thanks to your rks_decrypt script :)
right firmware is ap-arm-11ax/10.1.2.0.120/rcks_fw.bl7.main

I'll shoot you a PM regarding the smartzone stuff

Just found two Ruckus R750's on eBay where the sellers accepted offers of $400 ~ $450. So I am back on the Ruckus train with 2 x R750s and 1 x R720. This replaces 2 x U6 Mesh and 1 x UAP AC-HD - let's see how the performance is, but the fact that I don't require a 'controller' - or that adding another AP is as simple as plugging it into L2 network - is amazing

Now to rip out the remaining Ubiquiti gear ( core switch + poe switch). I honestly don't mind Ubiquiti for video but for everything else it has been pretty bad (won't play well with VLANs and L3 switching etc)

I am installing Cisco CBW150ax wireless APs. I putting one in all heavy use rooms so the signal does not need to pass through any walls. They are so cheap you can buy a bunch of them. I paid $102 each for my Cisco CBW150ax wireless units.

I think you end with higher speed coverage having an AP in every room.

How are handoffs in that situation?

I run a similar config with 6x ruckus r750 and handoff is seamless between access points as I move through my home, it comes down to enabling features like 802.11k and more importantly setting appropriate channel and signal levels. 2.4ghz can be more tricky because of its greater range and it may be beneficial to disable 2.4 broadcasts on some APs.
Edit: I think it’s a sensible future proofing approach to run cables to heavy usage areas for access points as future tech will make use of higher frequencies that less effectively penetrates through walls etc.

Are you with Linus tech talks? :) I have three (2 r650 and 1 r750) and have waffled between turning off 2.4Ghz radio on the middle AP, and a 2.4Ghz two-channel (1,6) re-use plan with all 3 to give room for an IoT thread network.
two-channel reuse plan

With which firmware update did you get your ICX 7150 to show up?

Are your WLANs working on WPA2/WPA3 mixed? I had mine on WPA2/3 and enabled Fast BSS Transition + 802.11k Neighbor-list Report and got this on some iOS and MacOS devices

r750.jpeg

Which sucks because was really looking forward to enabling those features. Will try again but my iPhone 12 and MacBook 2021 work just fine - it's the older iPhone XS or 2020 MacBook Air M1s that don't work with it. Very strange ...

I couldn't get Fast BSS Transition + 802.11k Neighbor-list Report to work with WPA2/3. Never could get my ios devices to join up. On latest Ruckus firmware with R610's and R350's.
