Hello

Does anybody has tried an Intel Core i9-10900T "QTB0" processor, about 190€ in ebay, in our beloved M90Q?

Thanx

Generally the ES samples are fine, just remember three things :
- No microcode updates so you'll generally have all the bugs and security issues left open forever.
- The clock speeds are lower than the retail CPUs, but it's not a huge difference.
- Technically you're not allowed to own them and they are not allowed to be sold, so this affects their value and how easy they are to sell afterwards.

So none of those are showstoppers, just bear them in mind. For me the discount on ES chips isn't big enough to justify the compromises, but you may feel differently.

Up to 35W CPU + 5-7W for the motherboard + 5W per SSD + 10W for the NIC and let's assume the 65W power supply is 80-85% efficient.

It's just not enough power headroom for the device, buy a 90W power supply if you must or 135W if you can. I bought good 135W non Lenovo ones for ~£18-20 each here in the UK, it's not worth risking the stability of the machine with an overloaded power supply.
Power supply updated to 230w and I still have the same problem... it doesn´t boot if the dac cable is connected. If i connect the cable after booting it works fine...

Any happy idea?

could heatsink from 01MN633 assembly (35w heatsink + fan) be replaced with 01EF554 on m920q? 01EF554 explicitly says that it is for tiny4 while m920q is tiny5.

is it necessary to put a 5h40u52594 chipset 'heatsink'? many models come without it and it is does cost around 10$ locally. would it block stock sata drive cage on m920q?

Did anybody the CFG unlock on a Lenovo M720 ?
I can not find the UEFI variable "CpuSetup" with RU.efi, var_setup.efi or modgrubshell.efi.

The newest BIOS version is flashed - maybe that is the problem.
Does anybody older versions from 2019 / 2020 ?

EDIT:

Found it :)

If anybody search the needed BIOS-Update for CFG-Lock etc. (Version: M1UKT67A)

You get the ISO here: https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/thinkcentre_bios/m1uj967usa.iso

Sorry but I never heard of the "CpuSetup" variable, which "how-to" did you follow?
Please, take a look at my older post regarding this matter, I've just extracted the latest M1UKT6EA bios to be sure and the location of the "Overclocking Lock" variable is still at the same place than in older Bios, which is 0x7BD. You just have to set it to 0x00, I usually enter the older command, setup_var 0x7BD 0x00 in modgrubshell.efi and it works fine.

Yes, i tested it for a few minutes.
It's also working with the newest bios.

A fully unlocked bios would be awesome.

I used "undervolt" (GitHub - georgewhewell/undervolt: Undervolt Intel CPUs under Linux) on my proxmox-server.

Code:
temperature target: -0 (100C)
core: -150.39 mV
gpu: -150.39 mV
cache: -150.39 mV
uncore: -150.39 mV
analogio: 0.0 mV
powerlimit: 15.0W (short: 0.00244140625s - enabled) / 15.0W (long: 28.0s - enabled)

What bios feature do you need? If its hidden in the Bios GUI but present in the Bios file, you can interact with it the same way you enabled overclocking/underclocking setting. For example, the Thunderbolt bios settings are hidden for M720Q but visible on M920Q even if it's the same Bios file for both. By changing 0x521 value, you can enable it for M720Q even if it wasn't meant to be.

Sure, that's the same, but i´m a bigger fan of setting up everythin in bios instead in a config-file in linux :)
Power-Targets for example.

I will take a look at power-targets, I have to admit I don't know what it is (is it TDP down?) ^^;
In the meantime, I suppose you saw you can already change PL1 and PL2 with your undervolt software?

TDP-Down is the setup of the P1 anf P2 powerlimits :)
Yes, i‘ve insert it in the config
(powerlimit: 15.0W (short: 0.00244140625s - enabled) / 15.0W (long: 28.0s - enabled))

As a conclusion to this story, the 01AJ940 adaptor worked perfectly. The LSI HBA was detected straight away. No idea why the 01AJ902 wouldn't work, but this information might be useful for people in the future.
Do you have any pictures of this setup? I'm thinking of doing the same thing. What kind of idle power consumption are you seeing?

It seems the kind person from Reddit who prints baffles ships internationally. I've ordered four for the Supermicro AOC-STGN-I2S in Tiny6+ format and will update when/if the Royal Mail strikes allow 'em through.

Do you have the Supermicro AOC-STGN-I2S working in a Tiny 6 (M90q Gen1) with the x16 riser?

No, but I do in a P350 which is a Tiny7 (M90q Gen 2 equivalent).
It was imposible mission. I had to change the card (It is working in other computer). Now I have an Asus XG-C100F and it works fine.
Did you have problems in the boot process?
