What boards support 240W+ TDP? Would love to have a scalable testing system. Can I get away with a Supermicro X11SPi even though it has a max TDP of 205W?

X11SPi don't start 8124M
there is no supermicro available for end customers with 240W support.
but the to high TDP is not the reason at all, these processors have a TDC of 255A
Supermicro's run TDC up to 228Amps

240W support:
all ASRock Rack EPC621,EP2C621
Gigabyte MU71,MD71
and some others.

Anyone have a guide on how to flash the asrock EPC621D8A to work when I add a P-8124?

first you need a CPU supported by the stock BIOS to (Instant)flash the modded BIOS,
or a hardware-programmer to flash the chip outside the board.

the required microcode(50653 SKL B1) is NOT included in the stock BIOS of the EPC621D8A

My Supermicro PSU's don't work with the asrock psu smbus. same pinout as my old SM board, but no data. So I can't give the best info

My rack idles at around 240W, so thats the server with a low power switch/router. I'd imagine its around the 200W range

Any idea of how to force it to run 3ghz all core or higher on an Asrock EPC621D8A?

install HWinfo and check the package power at load(CPU-Z stress CPU)

hard to say because the stock BIOSs don't support this CPU

which motherboard ?
if you have Gigabyte MD71/MU71 you have only update to latest BIOS.

and this thread is about the Platinum 8124m, not Platinum P-8124.

i am not young anymore, but i still need the money... to buy some other interesting stuff.
and the MD71 is replaced by X11DPi with VRM modd.
