I have a Lenovo SR655 which only lists support for Rome and Milan. Does anyone know if Naples is supported as well? I did a little digging and it appears to have a 32MB UEFI image, so certainly the latest firmware will be Rome/Milan only, but maybe the oldest firmwares supported Naples?

I also have an impression they're split into two major generations, physically compatible socket but only 7001/7002 and 7002/7003 are interchangeable. But don't trust my word. I also would love to know that for sure.

As I recall the ROMED8-2T supports 7001/2/3, but not at the same time because the microcodes for all three generations don't fit in 32MB.

Then maybe it's better trust lenovo specs. P340 tiny specs also doesn't list xeon w, although physically compatible. I tried it and it won't even turn on at all. p340 workstation would work though because it's listed. And probably because of either different chipset, or soft(firm)ware limitations on specific equipment(yeah, it's known lenovo laptops have a whitelist of LTE cards but you can somewhat hack around that).
So if specs don't list it, assume it won't work. If you're feeling rich you can try though.

tiny uses Intel Q470 chipset which not supports Xeon W.
Yeah, I didn't think of it back then. Figured it out after the attempt. Good thing is I got to upgrade my other system with a newer CPU. Just needed RAM and MB lol. So it's not like it was an expensive lesson or anything. Guess I'll do the same thing again someday :p

the gigabyte MZ71-CE1 exists in two models.
rev 1.x supports 7002 & 7001
rev 3.x supports 7003 & 7002
the two are visual identical, maybe the flashabl.rom(16mb) can be flashed in the rev 3.x to run naples(PCIe 3.0 only)

Can't you run it without bmc at all? It only manages fans which can be worked around with using static power rails. Video can be used with external card. No? Just wondering...
