Hi all,

I just became an owner of an X10DAI. It came with 6 modules of DDR4 RDIMMS (Samsung PC4-2400T) and I am trying to find out what is the optimum way to install the memory RAM in the motherboard.

According to the manual, I populated P1-DIMMA1, P1-DIMMB1, P1-DIMMC1 and then P2-DIMME1, P2-DIMMF1 and P2-DIMMG1. Then why my memory runs at 2133 according to BIOS and not at 2400?

Could someone also give me some hint what is the "Fill First" method that the manual describes is? And is the following correct?

---------------------- DIMM_00 ------- DIMM_02
Channel_00 --> P1-DIMMA1 & P1-DIMMA2
Channel_01 --> P1-DIMMB1 & P1-DIMMB2
Channel_02 --> P1-DIMMC1 & P1-DIMMC2
Channel_03 --> P1-DIMMD1 & P1-DIMMD2

Channel_00 --> P2-DIMME1 & P2-DIMME2
Channel_01 --> P2-DIMMF1 & P2-DIMMF2
Channel_02 --> P2-DIMMG1 & P2-DIMMG2
Channel_03 --> P2-DIMMH1 & P2-DIMMH2

Thanks in advance !!!

Also depends on the CPUs you are using.
If yours support DDR4-2400, check if memory transfer rate is at least set to "auto". If that still doesn't do the trick, try forcing it to DDR4-2400

if your CPU supports 2400 RAM, install only 4 DIMMs per socket to have them run at 2400.
too much ranks have too much load for CPU = reduction to 2133(or 1866)

What's so troubling about it? Triple-channel for each CPU is the best you can do with only 6 DIMMs.
The memory population you listed in the first post is correct, and follows the "fill first" rule.

Indeed, Triple-channel for each CPU is the best I can do with only 6 DIMMs. What troubles me is how do you position those on the motherboard! By the next line answers this question (which was what I was looking for)!

The memory population you listed in the first post is correct, and follows the "fill first" rule.
Thank you for the verification. It seems I needed this because I was second-guessing myself ;-) !!!

no, 3 DIMM per channel is possible. 4 channels per cpu * 3 DIMM/ch = 12 DIMMs per CPU (on some motherboards of course)
Totally agree with you. It is doable. So in my case, 4x Channels times 4x DIMMs/Ch = 16 Total DIMM Slots. Got it !!!

still confusing information:
DIMMA1 & DIMMA2 is the SAME channel, DIMMx2 can not populated if DIMMx1 is empty.
if you populate any DIMMx2 before all other DIMMx1 are populated you are missing bandwidth.
if your CPU supports 2400 RAM it will drop down to 2133 if DIMMx1 & DIMMx2 is populated.
if one channel is dropped down to 2133 all other channels follow.

Totally agree with you. It is doable. So in my case, 4x Channels times 4x DIMMs/Ch = 16 Total DIMM Slots. Got it !!!
you have 8 channels. 4 per CPU. 2 DIMM per channel (DIMMx1 & DIMMx2)
8 * 2 = 16.
