by the way, remember the good old fake E5-2683v3 ? labeled with 2683v3 but ES inside, hundreds of them were sold.
No, wasn't aware of the 2683v3 scam. I've posted a few photos of the cpu here. It is indeed recognized as a tray processor. Also, Bios reports Processor ID as 306F1. Is there anything else to check? Thanks for your help so far.

I think I have to change my mind, have a look here
4-18.png
Turbo ratio limits (4-18c)
now that i think about it, it may be the Huananzhi maybe disables by mistake 4 cores ?

no fabric processors should run fine. skylake ES need bios up to 2.1, bios 3.x lacks skylake es microcode.
I know that many Supermicro motherboards (like X11DPH, X11DPL, X11SPi, X11SPL, etc) support the ES chips with the 2.1 BIOS (I have had several in my hands), but according to what I have seen on eBay in the description of different ES chips, both X11DPi-N and X11DPi-NT motherboards are supposed to work with ES chips with a modded BIOS. So I was wondering whether somebody actually tried ES Xeons on X11DPi-NT motherboard (with or without a modded BIOS). Thanks.

You might need to take the v2.1 bios and add the specific ES microcode with the UBi tool, which is pretty straight forward

update !
You need the modded 3.0 BIOS to run SKL ES2 on X11DPi-NT, BIOS 2.x will not work :(
update 2
there is no BIOS 3.x that supports SKL ES2, you need modded BIOS 2.0b

if you need BIOS 3.x and dont want to downgrade to 2,x you have to modd the 3.x BIOS.
Ive had trouble modding my X11SPM-TF with a QL1K for v3.x bioses. It won't post even with microcode added. Any idea what to do or if it's possible?

I added vroc 6.2 (upgraded from 5.4) for my v2.1 bios, since it's the last one I know that works with this board and chip

can you try in your bios ?
set number of active cores to 18
I wasn't able to find such a setting. Tried removing the CPU ID 06F1 patches in the bios via MMTool, but it would not post after flashing. Error code 79, CSM issue.

there are many versions of MMTool, hard to choose the right one.
change other microcode i.e. 306F2 and test if it still works. maybe you need different tools.

Updated all the microcodes, 306F2 was outdated, but it did not change a thing. Might try older microcodes for 306F1. Perhaps you know where I could find these ones?
