The lowest I've seen these exact modules listed at was about $35 shipped. Currently there is more than one listing at $45 shipped. I bet you someone would accept $35ea offer for 8 modules.

Off the top of my head for DDR3 nomenclature
1.5v
PC3-<speed>?
1.35v
PC3L-<speed>?

? - U / E / R / L

You can mix pc3 & pc3l as well as different speeds as long as the last letter is same. They run at lowest speed of the mix and at higher voltage.

However, You can’t mix Registered &. L (Load Reduced) though both are for servers. Typically 32 GB ddr3 that I have seen have been LR.

you can also mix Rank 1, 2, 4 as long as the total rank per channel is under the MB spec.
My experience has been limited to SMC. It may be possible to mix R &LR with Dell & HP.

I bought 4 of 32 Gb for $150. You can try to talk to the seller.

For those who are not familari with LRDIMM and RDIMM,

anandtech has a really great article to talk about both RAM.

RDIMM is a little bit faster use a little bit less power,
LRDIMM is slower and user a little bit more power.

The LRDIMM equipped server needs 19W more or 2.4W per DIMM

However the capacity of LRDIMM is much bigger than RDIMM. RDIMM 16GB Max. LRDIMM is 32GB Max

Don't see anything sub $40 now and deleted a couple of ended items but found this ended item (albeit 1600): Samsung M386B4G70BM0-YK00 32GB PC3L-12800L 1600MHz REG ECC Server Memory RAM | eBay

This one is still live at $40.625 a stick x 8, which is not a great deal but still there if you wanted I guess:

With ddr4 prices coming down, I would probably skip 32gb ddr3 altogether. If 64 ddr3 come down a lot more, I would probably go for those as 64gb ddr4 as still very high.

I take this back. I was confusing LRDIMMs with lower voltage RDIMMs.

When mixing lower voltage pc3-14900L and pc3-14900R, the L modules will operate at the higher voltage--that's what the r710 manual was talking about.
