That's odd. They're down another dollar to $299.31? 1% gradual price drop over the course of 30 hours...

Another 0.5% drop since it is 12 hours later. $297.81

It's getting fun to track. At a $17.81 difference I'd get the Samsung over the original modules.

I've sniped two individual SK Hynix HMAA8GL7AMR4N-VK from ebay so far at $270 and $280. Six more to go but I'm hoping they'll dip further over the next few months.

When the ebay seller advertises as "new" but the gold contacts have scouring, meaning they've been seated in a DIMM slot at some point.
Is that normal, Or do we take that "new" with a grain of salt?

Well it can’t have been used long, 2666 64g rdimms hasn’t been common for too long.
Maybe they were tested , could be remanufactured even, price is good so if they test ok I guess go with it.

I don't disagree with this...but...

<My pet peeve with sellers>

If it's not $#@!%ing new, SAY SO!!! Most buyers of this kind of stuff could care less if it was new/used, as long as the price is good. So, I don't get it. Marking something as "new" doesn't make them command a higher price, so WHY??

</My pet peeve with sellers>

Sorry, had to get it out of my system. :)

Yes of course I totally agree on that’s as well. Just throwing out a theory why it could be used other than actually used.
Sometimes i live eBay and others I hate it, being non USA based except on holidays there is double annoying if using a reshipper.

Do DIMMs get tested at the factory? If so, wouldn't that cause scarring? If they don't test DIMMs in slots how do they test them?

You know I have to say I haven’t seen it and I do open thousands of dimms. But suppliers like HPE though, and I know if they rest drives the put a different sticker on it so you know it was post production tested.

So maybe I miss it but fair question, how do the makers test dimms which as you point out I assume they do.

In my experience, Amazon is the worst when it comes to selling used as new. Just ordered a dashcam advertised as new and it was obviously used. I sent it back. And yes, Amazon was the seller.
