MZ7KM480HAHP-000MV Samsung SM863 480GB MLC SATA 6G 2.5 SSD 0-Hours * New Bulk * | eBay

It says toward the bottom of the page that "0-hours" means the hard drives are never installed/used in a system and is brand new.

This seems like it could be a pretty decent deal with best offer (the SM863 is Samsung's higher end enterprise SSD from a generation ago / the higher write endurance model). It always makes me a bit nervous though as I've purchased quite a few of these enterprise SSDs sold as brand new, and they end up with some sketchy SMART info / logs / strange firmware, etc.

Anybody purchase any of these / have any experience with this seller?

These are pre-latency 'fix' samsung (at-least imho they're laggy) and their performance is not of a write heavy-drive such as the S3700 S4600, etc... more on par (slightly better) than a S3500 \ S3510 in terms of performance, and about 2-3x > endurance. So should be compared to an Intel S3610 with less IOPs and less endurance.

For this $ I'd rather buy 800GB S3610 Used. More iops. More endurance, even when used.

Thanks for the info. Yeah the 480GB SM863 has an endurance of 3 PB which is just shy of the DC S3610 but the S3610 also seems to be quite a bit more expensive. Are you sure the SM863 is affected by the latency issue? I remember reading about some of their TLC SSDs like the 840 EVO having a latency issue, but I wasn't aware of any issues with the MLC drives like the SM863.

Why would you pay $100+ for 480gb samsung with latency > than a S3610 800gb?

They go for 115-140 almost consistently. Even S3700 and S3710 800gb are in this price if you watch deals which are HUGE perf. increase and endurance.

So yes, I'm sure, I'd go S3610, with 10k+ iops over the samsung .

This drive for $100+ for <1TB is NOT a deal IMHO.
