Hi,

I am currently looking for a 1u chassis for my Xeon-D 1521 (X10SDV-4C-TLN2F) that can hold a full-height expansion card.

Also if possible, it would be nice to have one with hot swap 2.5in bays (no more than 4).

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I'll look into these ones. Thank you for the recommendation.

This only has a low profile expansion slot. I need a full height one for the card I'm going to use as it doesn't come with a LP bracket at all.

The expansion slot actually requires a full height bracket, not low profile. It's just limited as to how large a card it can take. What are you trying to put in this?

My apologies, I misread the wording on their website.

I'm trying to out a P2000 in there. I wanted to put it in one of my Dell R210ii but the slots on their don't produce enough power (only 25w) to run the card.

I've got mine in a Cse-505-203B and everything fits/functions fine.

That's good to know. I currently have a 510T so I can see if it fits and if it does I'll just get the riser for it and call it a day.

Is your card in a Gen3 x16 slot?
IIRC, the hot swap bays in the 510T will keep the card from fitting properly.

My card is a Gen3 x16 card but the slot on the X10SDV-TP8F is only Gen3 x8 (which does not impact performance).

That's what I'm assuming but I guess it doesn't hurt trying before purchasing a new case.

Ah okay, as long as it is Gen3 it would be okay. All the ones in the Dell R210ii are Gen2 unfortunately.

I'm using this purely for hardware transcoding in Plex so I doubt I'd noticed any performance drop with Gen2 or even at x1 speed on Gen3.

It isn't speed but the power limit of the slot.

You're referencing slots that aren't PEG slots (pcie graphics) and are normally limited to 25w (seen in R210/R510/R710 for example). I don't recall reading that the limitation was for a particular pcie generation.

Thanks for the clarification. That's good to know it was just Dell spec and not a slot thing. This is very encouraging now.

If this works, I'll have a couple of R210ii for sale soon haha

Certainly not limited to Dell, it's just a very common thing to see since the used market is full of that generation server.

There is a post of someone using the P2000 in the R710 (25w boot slot) and it pulling over 25w after boot.
